I always thought the mirrors on the CR looked way too large and bulky, and really took away from the looks of the bike. So last night I installed some Rizoma turn signals next to the headlight and got rid of those ugly mirrors. The bar end mirrors I have won't fit, though. The CR's handle bars have a narrower passage about an inch or so in, and the mounting system for my bar ends goes in further than that, so I'm on the lookout for a mirror.

But here are the pics, after a 34 degree ride into work this morning:

That does look cleaner and meaner.

Looks good man.
Are they the track 77 indicators?
I can't see how you've attached them though...
Drilled holes in the headlight surround?

Rup -

Yeah, they're Track-77s. The area behind the flyscreen is very empty, so it was easy to find a spot to drill a hole. I had to mount them a little higher than I wanted in order to keep them level, but it ended up tucking them up and almost hiding them.

Next step is to get a bar end mirror for the left grip, and then I need to make a quick-detach tail tidy for it for track days.

...and then remove the passenger footpegs and fork reflectors.
Maybe some ALTH wavy brake rotors (front and floating rear)...
Radial clutch and brake master cylinders...
with remote reservoirs...
and shorty levers...
Aftermarket exhaust (Jardine maybe)...

and then...

Once you've started, it never stops. : D

That's really smooth. I really liked the bar end mirrors on the Lightning. That'll be sexy as hell.

The little offset tab that the stock mirrors mount to? Are they integral to the mirror stalk, or do they detach? I was thinking that would be a good mounting point for the signals...

Or how about the bar end mirrors with the built in signals from the Hypermotard?

Tell me about it. Once I find a place for the fuel tank vent line, the passenger pegs are gone. And yeah, there are still a couple reflectors that need to go. And I'm not sure about exhaust - I love the looks of the Jardine, but I'd have to hear one in person before making a decision - I don't want something super loud anymore. Shorty levers for sure, though, lol.

I got it October 11 - it was the first my dealer go it. Like you, I also traded in my XB for it. I haven't missed my Firebolt for a second. This bike is just better in every way (except for the exhaust note). You're going to love it.

They're built into the mirror base - I don't think there's any way to deatch them. However, the good news is the bolt that holds them down can be threaded all the way into the hole without the bracket, so you don't need to go searching for shorter bolts or a plug or anything.

The Hypermotard turn signals are actually built into the hand guard, not the bar end mirror.

Just saw the CR at the dealer yesterday when picking up my bike. Like the R, it doesn't photograph particularly well and looks way better in person.

Nice!

I think the mod that made the biggest improvement in looks to my lightning was the addition of barend mirrors.

Now get the reflectors off the fork and a tail tidy or a taillight with integrated blinkers.

Sweet ride. I like those CRs.

I dont think anything can help the look of the cr .I looked at one in person and the only thing i wished my r had was the gears.the cr handlebar position was uncomfortable.I thought it would of been more like the xb models.Guess not.The r is far better looking. Id rather have my old xb over the cr even though the power wasnt there. My opinion ,but not at all impressed.

I'm interested in how many CR riders will go with the upright bars. I'm pretty sure I will but I don't know if I want the bars as high as the accessory bars.

I like the R but it holds far less excitement for me when compared with the CR. I will not require a big fairing for most of the riding I do.

I will add bar-end mirrors to my CR when I get it - I'll just transfer my CRG lane splitters from my XB12 and then (likely)put flush mount LED signals on top of the pods.

Being the Cheap Bastard that I am, I used these on my last bike, and probably will do so again...

They served me well, look pretty darn good, and at $40 bucks a PAIR, with free shipping are pretty hard to beat.

Carbon - go to a bicycle shop - those are just Mirrorcycle bicycle mirrors, and will cost you a lot less than $40 for a pair.

In fact, I have those very mirrors, and they are the ones that won't fit on my CR, so chances are they won't on yours either (I know you're doing the high bar conversion, so I'm not sure). If you get your new bars, and they don't have a narrow section welded in, let me know and I can send you the ones I have.

I'm going to give these a try:

If they would fit, I bet that would look pretty sharp.

I appreciate the offer XL. Let me check the bars out to see if that will work.

Those are trick, but WAY too pricey, and I don't think the hand guards would lend themselves too nicely to the CR.

Blink rate is the same - since the old signals were LEDs, the flasher was already okay for new LEDs.

In fact, these new Rizomas are only ONE led, and FAR brighter than either the stock front or rear signals. Since they only have one bulb, you have to install them with a load box that reduced the voltage going in to 6v.

when i removed the passenger pegs on my '08 R the fuel vent line got routed back down behind the left front peg. i assume this is where it was before as there is sort of a provision for it. had to take off the front pully cover to see what was up but it works quite nice.

For those folks with 1125CRs who decided to take off their mirrors (and bases), anyone want to sell them? PM with price and condition.

If the bar ends don't fit with the stepdown, you can usually just take them apart and cut down the rubber plug as needed. Be careful on the throttle side as you want a little gap there to avoid hanging up the throttle return.
