Those look great Neil, I wish I had time and the motivation to do some bags. First on my agenda is an exhaust. How much do you have in all the stuff to make those happen?

Cutty:

I have the Road Attacks and they are great. I have almost 3k miles. S/B able to get 7-10k out of them.

BB:
From Givi, bags and their brackets, I have $700. Add another $50 in Lowes material and at least 8 hours in fab time. 2nd time around I can probably reduce the labor by 1/2, I'm hoping.

That was one of my design criteria was still retain 2 up capability. Look at the pict below and you can see ample room for most boots, of the female gender.

Bryan:

As a matter of fact it is (LOL). Actually just the bottom side gets dirty and shows the dirt. 3 days last week I had wet roads and guess what, a dirty bike. I even cleaned it last night top-bottom and........ I rode on wet roads to work and now have a dirty bike. I just can't win with these pop-up showers around here.

Getting back to my back, it's not sore due to cleaning it's sore due to a little West coast R&R with my Wife,

I get to rest up this week since she won't be back until Sunday. Then Wednesday we head North for Home Coming! More R&R is very good.

Any other questions?????

Later.

Brad:

Thanks for the kudos. I still want a little more lighting identification on the rear of my 25r. More lights are no guarantee that you won't be rear ended but, I hope they at least grab someone's attention.

My ST1300 got a great compliment from a Goldwing rider. He felt my lights were obnoxious! His next comment was: Where can I get some!

Since we (as motorcyclists) are pretty invisible, we need to raise our awareness to everybody else, almost any way that we can.

Hey Neil looks good and those do look bright, I have the red center with amber arrow and have these electrical things that you hook up to your turn signals so they stay on and when power from the turns signal is applied they turn off,

I am thinking of adding them to the red part of the turn signal and each side would flash red amber red amber and be more eye catching,

I would lock tight the set screw in the back of the turn signals, I lost one and I did not even know it was there until my turn signal was facing down,

called them and sent my two set screws,

just thought I would give you the heads up on it.

I should have my custom top clamp finished soon they just started milling it in the C&C machine,

once I get the pictures I will send them to you if I can not figure how to post them myself.

Are you done with your bike or do you have anything else planned?

That's a busy cockpit, Neil.
Can't wait to see it.

Leaving tomorrow, starting to get my things together.
I'll be looking for it in the parking lot when I get there.

Not sure which room we'll be in.
They said 308 when I called to confirm but said that could change.

Have to work 6 or 7 hours today.
If we get the recall kit in, I might have it installed tomorrow before I leave.
More likely tho, I'll have it done on my return.

Time is starting to fly.... see ya in a couple of days.

Do you have an 1125r? The bags are the cheap part :+}.

Have a good trip. BTW the recall is pretty straight forward and takes less than an hour.

Naustin:
They make 1125r's everyday.

At Home Coming I was pleasantly surprised to see the interest by my fellow Buelligans in the Givi set up. At the factory there was a LOT of interest by a number of people that had name tags on and special shirts.

Overall everyone liked the function of the brackets and the form of the mounted bags. I did hear a few comments about "what's next" and some finishing touches. Someone mentioned 0.50cal rounds sticking out of the square mounting tube and other implements of "James Bond" type hardware. Best suggestion was some LEDs.

Any comments are welcome, keep your ideas coming!

Thanks

Very nice indeed. The brackets, which don't seem obtrusive at all without the bags, look like they would make nice handrails for the passenger as a bonus.

I'm thinking that since the right people at the Factory showed so much interest in your handiwork, you might offer the brackets to them temporarily to study the design in an effort to usher this bag setup as a factory option. Maybe they would make such an offer worth your while?

They would work as hand rails with or without the bags.

I would be more than willing to loan them out. I just bet they know who I am. They have never been too shy but, you can't ever tell.

Many OEM's use Givi as their bag or top box manufacturer. We know that Buell uses the Hepco & Becker for the Uly and XT. It would not be too much of a stretch to go with the V35 bags from Givi.

IMHO, these bags are a very high quality bag and, the design also fits the lines of the 1125r. Just my $0.02.

I'll just bet this set up would work on the "cr". Even in my distorted view of the world, this would not be a pretty picture. It would remind me of those insurance commercials where they showed the "biker" with saddle bags looking in the mirror!

Looks really great Neil !!

I may want the same setup since the soft bags I bought from you were recently damaged...

I recall someone asking you about a cross-member connecting one side to the other. Any thoughts on that?
I do like the idea of LEDs in the ends though.

Oh no!!! What happened to the first Gear bags? Hope they gave it up for sake of more expensive parts.

This set up actually has 2 cross supports. One is right under the tail and one is under the license plate light.

Fortunately I have not done any destructive testing but, everyone at Home Coming felt this bracket set up was real stout.

I am working with a 2nd party to manufacture these brackets. I was waiting to see if BMC had anything similar in their 09' offerings. I can't say much more w/o being a BWB supporter (which we are intending on doing). You can PM me to discuss further.

Unfortunately the more expensive parts were also damaged. But the insurance check has arrived and parts have been ordered.

I have yet to claim the bags and my leather pants which were also damaged.

Fortunately I didn't get hurt much at all, just a sore butt for a couple days and making a few extra chiropractor/massage visits.

Here's the story and some pics:
