any racing info for a newby? I am getting old and turning fifty in may, I plan on going to race school, so I can do track days, and keep the fast riding there, this is why I bought the 1125R to go fast on a track, and not have to worrie about people, or animals, and lets not forget four wheel or more veicals, and just maybe I will get a compliment on my riding? but I am not holding my breath on that one. Mike

Go for it Mike!

Brace yourself for more fun than you can imagine and more work, expenses, etc.

Don't let the age thing get in the way. ALL race organizations have a Formula 50 or similar class for us older farts.

I got my first podium at 51 against the BOTT Middleweight crowd at Willow Springs. Unfortunately that was the month before Buell's contingency money in that class. (next race ended badly for me)

If you're in MA - you are probably talking WERA Racing. Good organization.

Check their website/Forum:

http://www.wera.com

WERA BBS:

http://forums.13x.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=12

Sign up, post as a "newbie" - you are going to be pleasantly surprised at how little BS there is on the racing BBS compared to sportbike BBS. Everybody there knows that talk doesn't count - they'll all be facing each other on the track. Makes for a different attitude.

Thanks Slaughter, I have been told I had the talent when I was young, but now I got fear or smartness, I was trying to do wheelies on my ulysses and was afraid to bring it up to the balence point, then again I know I have responsabilitys, I do not own a car so if I wipe out I am in trouble, this is why I just want to do track days, I can not aford to wipe out? but if I was aproched and was told I have talent? then maybe I would. I bought a blast for my son to teach him how to ride, now he wants to follow in my steps, I am giving my ulysses to him because he lent me the money to buy the 1125R, so I will be keeping the blast as a backup bike or maybe build it to race which would be good for my son and I to race and not have to worrie about the bike. I found out the hard way when my ulysses oil pump broke, it happend in mid october and did not get it back till december, I told them that I needed it because it was my only way to get around, I told them I felt something break, the top end was making allot of noise, so first they say the oil pump broke then they said it was a clogged oil line, so I asked them to cut the line open and find out what part was clogging the oil line and told them something broke and was in there, they did not listen, how long would it have taken to cut open a oil line? so they lost a customer and they did not even fix my bike right, the rear cylender is leaking oil and some screws were loose and one was crossthreaded right were you could see it, behind the front wheel the two screws that hold the chin fairing to the exhaust, the screw was sticking out cocked and half way in, I can not believe this came back to me like that after two month in the shop, so I am warning people to stay away from Manchester HD in Manchester New Hampshire, there are some other broublems from them but to much to write. Thanks Slaughter for the advice and links I live about an hour and a half from loudon race track, and I am very excited to be doing this, and my son doing the same is even better, it will keep us close. Have a happy and safe new years and thanks Slaughter for the links. Mike}

Have fun Mike! I didn't get my first podium finish until I was 45.
