Hey, I posted an ad a few months ago looking for a fork tube for my 1125R. It has a few tiny pits in the chrome which I think are making it leak.

I could use one of those.

Or, does anyone know what other Buells use the same chrome tube? Plenty of others on ebay.

(The local chrome shop told me they could weld/polish/rechrome for $120 but now I took it off the bike and they say I was misinformed...so still in the market.)

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I had done an online search and found that method, though it doesn't seem to last, but some have reported success with JB Weld. I was planning on trying that but then found a whole fork on ebay and bought it, and even ordered a new seal.

The old seal had 2 spots with the most minor marks on them, I could feel them...but ever so minor...right on the lip of the seal. I considered going the cheaper gamble way but already have the fork disassembled, and have had this thing apart like 3 (too many) times now...so went with the reliable fix even if it cost more.

Now to unthread the tube from the axle casting. Anyone know the Torx size that is? My smallest is a T9 and that's too big. And to confirm, it threads in there?

And if anyone could use one that only has a very minor rust dimples (if they'd care to fix it) or any parts like damping rod, upper tube, lower (Right side) axle casting with brake mount, I'm not planning on using the majority of the complete fork I just bought. FYI

Update:

The new (used) fork from ebay had rust spots as well.

So, unless anyone has one, back to plan A, the JB Weld "fix".

I plan to give it every chance and am curious to see how it works. I think I'll use some HCL (swimming pool acid) to dissolve the rust in the divits and thoroughly clean them before "Welding" it. I haven't had much success with JB but I could see it working on this application as there is only sheer force which may be less than the adhesion of the Weld, and if it is sanded perfectly smooth it may just be crazy enough---to work! ; )

If anyone is curious it is a T7 Torx that locks the threads of the chrome tube to the axle casting. And by all I could find online the same sized tube isn't shared with any other Buell.
