Sigh. I know, like this hasn't been posted here before, but I'm seeking a set of S2 handlebars. I'd like either the intermediate height or, preferably, the touring bars.

Need a solution that provides some height - these are a very cool set but haven't ever found where they came from: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php? t=218057

Any/all help provided would be much appreciated. Anybody got a set collecting dust? Worst case scenario is I'll go with a stock set, resection them and then powder coat/rechrome them.

I have a couple of pairs in the shop. I will see if I can find them and then send photos. I am not sure whether they are pre or post recall parts . .. stand by . . .

Wow. It appears they might. Thanks for the heads up, Hank. I'll have to call a dealer in the morn and see what the "kit" includes. Seems like the price is mighty light to have two tall handlebars included.

Meanwhile, Don if you uncover a set you want to unload, I'd much rather pay you money than them.

Checked with a buddy of mine who still works at the HD shop.

The Z0500.8 is available, "vendor direct" (i.e. HD doesn't stock them, they're made to order). $156 retail.

Mr. Rat, thanks for that information. I think'll order up a set if Don doesn't have any for sale.

And I saw the set of stockers on Ebay. I wonder who could've possibly placed a bid on them?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, Glenn. I actually thought I posted a the response below yesterday. It seems that I may need to be retrained on BWB posting techniques . .

I was finally able to find the bars. It turns out that I have 3 lefts and one right (see photo) . ..Close initial inspection reveals that they are the "pre-recall" type with the bars cut to accept the collars, rather then dimpled. I will put a tape on them today in order to compare them with the bars on my S2T . . .hopefully giving me the additional information as to whether they are stock or "T" bars.

My "T" bars measure 6 1/4",from the bottom of the collar to a straight edge laid on top of the bar.

I was able to do a direct comparison with the bars on two '96 S2Ts and they appear to be the same length. Let me know if you want the intact pair . .

1313 has a copy of the recall bulletin showing the differences between the pre and post style..From what i can tell is they are wedled in fours spots instead of just the 2 sides..I did a check on my 96St that had the recall done and compared it to the photos in the recall bulletin..
I wasnt able to see the upper and lower welds without removing the bar from the fork top...it was welded in all four spots with the top and bottom being ground out flush to fit the fork top..
i also call the CDN distributor about the recall and they are who gave me the kit # showing the kit is still available in canada thru Deeleys..
My 1995 s2, # 182 also has the recalled touring bars on it and the welds are more visible than the set on #003....The set I sold to 1313 also has very visible 4 place welds...JUST all FYI for anyone who wants it.....HaNkB
