Here's one to beware of.
http://www.stumblehere.com/classifieds/2001-Buell- S3T-Thunderbolt---Excellent-------US-2000-453155

The seller will avoid any specific questions and reply with a generic email which has been discussed on the XBoard section regarding an xb12x for sale.

The reply I got was exactly word for word apart from the price.

"Hello and thanks for your interest,
The bike is still for sale and is in excellent condition as you can see from the pictures.
Some minor scratches,no accidents or any kind of damage and it has a clear title.
If you are interested in buying it, the price is $2,000 and this is with shipping costs to your location included. I'm selling the bike because I can't use it due to my new job (I work as a casino dealer on a cruise ship) and I don't have anyone in the US to whom I can give it.
All documents, including owner's manual, clear title and a bill of sale on your name will be provided along with the bike.
Also about payment and shipping I will use only eBay Vehicle Protection Program so we can both be protected.
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
Thank You,"

This guy is still at it & I don't want anyone here cheated.
Thanks,
Dave,

I sell on eBay for a living, and directly from my regional eBay manager's mouth - ANY item that says it needs to be paid "through eBay", but isn't an active listing on eBay...IS A SCAM.

Period.

The ONLY thing eBay does is PROCESS sales. They do NOT collect purchase dollars. If the "seller" wants to "initiate the deal through eBay"...make them start an auction so you can buy it.

And on a larger purchase, I always recommend either a screenshot of the auction, or a printout. As a CYA measure, especially if you have to talk the seller into starting an auction for a item they "already have".

This isn't the only guy using this scam. It's a popular one. They're all over Craigslist, too.

Yep, same email exchange happened to me. I was not in the mood to buy, but the guys advertisement had the bike down the street. In New York City of all places. I had already bought my current S1W, so I wanted to just kick the tires and thought it would be cool to take a look. Maybe try to buy a few parts he might of had hanging around.

I emailed him and said I wanted to see it. He gave me the exact email as above. I pretty much dropped it after that because I was not in the mood to buy and thought it would have been a dick move to make him put all this work into a sale that I was not interested in. Now, I see that it was a scam. What is funny, is the email introduction was the exact same with the exception that it was for a S1W.
