I heard Jack died and thought it fitting he should be remembered on these pages. By my reckoning he'd reached a great age of 92.

I met JVV in person at Bonneville Speed Week 2001 when he turned up on his now legendary 96" S&S S1. Not bad for a 70 year old fella going around 160 on salt!

Jack was kind enough to share his S1 for us to take turns shooting for the 130 Club. Was great fun when he gave me first go. Ran like a sack of shit barely getting to 100mph. Returning to the pits and telling him, Jack realised he'd drained the fuel to transport it from Cali. My next run was so much more fun going through the lights over 144mph. I didn't care and Jack loved it.

I'll never forget Jack nor his S1 nor the fun time we all enjoyed at Bonneville that year as a collective group of Buell owners and enthusiast racing for fun and for world land speed records as part of Team Elves.

Bless you JVV : )
