2011 AMA Pro Road Racing
Round 4
Subway SuperBike Doubleheader
Road America
Elkhart Lake , Wisconson
June 3-5, 2011
By Eric Barrows

This was the first time at Road America in the last 10 years that the WEATHER didn't affect any race outcomes. In fact, according to a report from a race-weather history buff, it has rained 12 years straight at AMA Superbike series events.

With great weather came some terrific racing! For anyone whom missed it, Sunday's Daytona Sport Bike race was the best of the year, unfortunately without Jason DiSalvo competing.

Both races saw Jason go out early on accidents. We hope Jason is feeling OK, and we'll be looking forward to him bringing it to Barber.

If you didn't get to watch the race, the excitement came as these riders would go five across into some corners with constant lead changes and very close side by side competition. To cap it off as the group was taking their cool down lap, the four bikes at the front did side by side, four-wide wheelies ... a thing of true Moto-Beauty!!

Geoff put the 1125RR through it's paces and gathered some very useful data, though the motor appeared to expire on turn five as I watched Geoff head up the hill. Unfortunate, but getting 17th place with an expired motor isn't all bad.

Meeting Erik, Jon Flickenger and Court in the pits was inspiring and proved very informative. So, on with some images...

Beware, possible Aliens

Yes, Erik will sign practically anything!

Got lean?

It was tough at times to get close to the 1190RS.
Very intense interest follows it wherever it goes.

During the Fan Walk Erik gets as much attention as the riders.

It's always cool to go into the pits at night and catch Erik wrenching away on a Race bike. He's a totally grounded, get it done, whatever it takes kinda guy.

The Pitts.

Where'd they all go?
