I just picked my bike up last week and on my first ride of the season a nice old man decided to blow throw a yield sign and hit me at 50+mph. Anyway I was already on my knee when it happened and I walked away without a scratch "thanks to my suit and supporting gear" So with that said I have a project ahead of me and was planning on building this bike as a weekend track bike but still street friendly.

Here is my list that I have compiled so far. Maybe you guys can put your two cents in. : )

Chain conversion-Erik Buell Racing seems to be the only option and it's pretty expensive. Any other companies I should look into ?

Flexiglass lower

rear sets- Only found a few UK companies and they all seem to be super generic without any options in position.

Tripple tree upper-Attack ?

Clip ons- Now from what I have read you need to do some major work to have clip ons due to the stops etc. I have searched and have had zero luck in finding a real answer.

Exhaust- Was planning on just building one from scratch using an akro evo muffler and some scrap Titanium.

Tune-Most likely will go with a piggy back since Erik Buell Racing won't have a map either way and I have a guy down the road that Is awesome when it comes to tuning.

Now I am still unsure of the condition of my forks but if they are in fact F'd I saw that someone used an r1 front end ? Once again just can't seem to find any real info on the swap. I gather it involves a custom ttc etc.

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to the Buell world since I got out of my 08 1krr Street/track bike last season...I am 100% in love with this platform and have already converted two other guys that I track with : ) I'm rambling and will stop here Thanks again !

Erik Buell Racing has an upper tripple, and the stops you need to run clip-ons.

Catalyst also makes bodywork that keeps the fans, but replaces the stock pods.

Rear Sets: The Erik Buell Racing chain conversion comes with sold mount rearsets.
The other option you have is to machine off the existing "ears" that the stock pegs mount to and then drill to mount aftermarket pegs.

Not to sound like a broken record, but Erik Buell Racing also has a fantastic full exhaust. Given, it's not inexpensive, but it works, and they have a matching tune.

My forks were shot after my last crash, picked up the Erik Buell Racing forks with the Showa 25mm cartridges, hard to beat for $950.

I think grandstands has a chain conversion. I used it on my XB I think he has one for the 1125. You can cut off the original handlebar ends and install a set of vortex clip ons underneith. As far as pegs like the man said mill off the ears and install a generic set. For exhaust I used a barker and Erik Buell Racing tune. Suspension go with the Erik Buell Racing set up beast bang for the buck.Use an Erik Buell Racing belly pan or get in on the flexiglass group by here.

FWIW, I just converted my 2008 1125R to track duty over the winter. First track day this Saturday (yeee haw), weather forecast 45 degrees with rain and snow (crap).

I upgraded suspension, although the stock isn't bad. Added a steering damper and upgraded brakes. Replaced stock can and ECM with the Erik Buell Racing stuff (best upgrade value is new ECM) Other than that, swapped tail and fairing for race plastics and put the gal on a diet. I tallied it up and even after adding axle sliders and Taylormade case guards, the bike is over 35 lb lighter than stock. For maybe $500, you could upgrade ECM, swap some plastics and drop a lot of weight. The other stuff, I'd replace incrementally.

Hi All

I am new to this blog site (London, UK). Have an '04 xb12s and have just snapped my third belt in 20,000 miles and am peed-off bigtime.
I want to do a chain conversion using 530 chain rather than the 520 racing chain. It would also be good to be able ease the final drive ratio to cut the revs. Does anyone know where I can find a reasonable cost kit that will do the job or find the email address for someone called 'Saintly' in NY?

Thanks everyone for the info, after doing some more research I plan on hopefully doing something a long the lines of mike1125r did with a custom front pulley and a cr belt n rear pulley. For the foot pegs do you have any good companies to look at for the peg mod ? Also still worried about the clip ons since I read that horror story about the stops feel free to post the info or link please ! : )

I'm going to deff go with the cycle pirate360 peg as well as the adjustable clutch n brake levers. Genius products ! As well as a huge save on not buying rear sets that will of course get destroyed on my next wreck.

OK so I started the build...

Today I installed the following:

Cycle Pirates rear "sets"- All and all the product is solid wish it had another inch or so of adjustment...I plan on calling them tomorrow to see if they would be up for doing an extended one for me...Or I may just design something up in CAD...

HPE Race exhaust- I am in love with this thing ! I would compare the quality to an arrow or akro. The sound to nothing, kind of a combination of a Aprilia with a full akro meets Harley V-rod with the loudest pipes on earth.

PCV-The new power commanders are awesome and super small easy setup as always !

I ordered the flexiglass fairings a week ago so I should have them soon hopefully ! Tomorrow I plan on making an appointment to get the bike tuned.

New set of Pilot pures
Stabilizer

Over the winter I plan on doing the chain conversion as well as some motor work along with stripping the paint on the frame and repainting the race glass Porsche Gt3 green to match my Current Time attack race car : ) Will post some pictures as I progress.
