From a press release issued by AMA Pro Racing:

Josh Hayes (No. 4 Yamaha Motor Corp. USA Yamaha R1)

“We were fortunate with Topeka and now here we are with New Jersey being really proactive on rider safety. They are addressing some issues that we had at a test just a month ago. I think it’s fantastic that people are taking us more seriously as far as the riders' comments and making us feel safe. It can only improve racing and improve the show for everybody. I am excited about it.

“It is going to be a great first event for them and for us too. The track is a little tight so it’s going to be interesting when we get everybody there to see how many new passing zones we find. At the test most of us rode around a little bit by ourselves. Everybody is going to have to be pretty creative and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Larry Pegram (No. 72 Foremost Insurance/Pegram Racing Ducati 1098R)

“I think it’s encouraging and they were definitely responsive to our comments when we were there. Seeing that they are definitely taking action to change the track shows that they are going to work with us, just like the promoter in Kansas. It seems like it is going to be a good track to race on. It has got some passing areas so I think it will be a really close event. We will have to wait and see what happens.”

It's really important to support this event if you're an east coaster. NJMSP is putting alot of work to make this top notch.

Saturday night 8/16 as soon as the Absolutecycle track day was done, the machines were out moving the tire barriers and wall at the exit of turn 12 which is a 130mph+ corner for a slow guy like me. The big dogs will likely be coming through 12 on to the front straight near 150!!! I ran a couple sessions on a 08 1098S over the weekend. yummy bike if you got the $$. Having ridden both on the track, the 1125R will do everything the Duc will but is far more user friendly (easier and more rewarding for the average rider) for 50% of the cost. id be happy as a pig in slop with either ... see you all labor day weekend.

What are they changing? I know when I was there for the practice a lot of racers were concerned with the bridge.

AVC8130, I believe they added run off on the first and last turns. I watched one bike run off of turn one just before the practice session ended.

I'll be going to the race as well. I live in Lancaster, PA, about 2hrs away and am not sure if I'm going to stay in the area Saturday night or ride home and ride back Sunday morning. If anyone knows a decent place to stay for not too much money, let me know.

Also, do you guys think the $150 ticket package is worth the money? I would really like to have access to the pit and paddock areas.

I have the $44 ticket. I cannot find any details on the NJMP site for what that means...but I will be there Sunday! All I see is that the Superbike club INCLUDES a ticket with all access. They don't show what the regular ticket includes.

Wgnzlz I paid $92.88 for a nice room at the Hammonton Inn in Hammonton. I did find less expensive rooms but I wasn't feeling the love for what the rooms looked like. I to considered driving to and from the event but considered the fuel cost and time and decided it was less expensive to stay sort of close by.

I purchased the $150 ticket as I felt it was the best bang for the buck in regards to what i was after. The Superbike package is slightly better however I had no desire to be in the building watching the event. If your a drinker either package is good.

Avc8130, what the Sport bike and Super bike packages have over the standard tickets is food, drinks, parking, pit access and preferred viewing of the race. The $44 ticket is a general admission Sunday only ticket (I originally was going to get a Saturday only pass!).

THE SPORTBIKE CLUB: $150 Per Person
(Children 12 and under $100)

Perfect for the race fan that wants to share in the excitement of the AMA with the thousands of other fans in attendance, but wants that "something extra". The SportBike Club, located along the backstretch next to the NJMP Hangar, offers fans its own outside area and the following:

Specially designated Saturday and Sunday Hospitality Chalet.
Individual ticket and club passes for Saturday and Sunday including circuit admission and Pit & Paddock access.
Event Program.
Complimentary Souvenir.
Continental breakfast and deluxe lunch Saturday & Sunday.
Full selection of beer, wine and soda, with cash bar open for liquors.
Special parking area.

THE SUPERBIKE CLUB: $295 Per Person
The most exclusive, interactive club to view all the AMA action is available for individual purchase.
Enjoy a unique opportunity to be part of the excitement overlooking the back stretch.
Your package includes:

Elevated 2nd story club in the Officer's Club above the backstretch with air conditioning, large deck for excellent viewing, and elegant lounge areas.
Individual ticket and club passes for Saturday and Sunday including circuit admission and Pit & Paddock access.
Closed-circuit TV monitors.
Full open bar both days.
Extravagant breakfast and lunch Saturday & Sunday.
Event Program.
Complimentary Souvenir Package.
One VIP parking pass with every two packages purchased.
Special Appearances by AMA Riders and other Celebrities.

For those of you who have not purchased tickets yet check with other forum members in regards to "Splitting" tickets. There have been a few posts about guys buying the package deals and they were only using one day. It may be worth trying to figure out how to get the pass from them and splitting the cost. Hell, I would have paid $75 for an all inclusive one day pass. The baseball games I go to cost more than that and I have to buy food and pay for parking!

I know it was Sunday only...I just didn't see anywhere that defined the difference between "General" admission and "Pit" access.

I had to ask what the difference was when I was at the test session, I had no clue.

Wow, they really segregated people out. With that track layout I don't see how anyone with general admission could see anything in the first 4 turns or the straight without being/crossing through the pits.

Just after you cross over the bridge there is a seating area there on the right at one of the turns. I liked it there.

I liked it there as I was able to get corner pictures, transition pictures and short straight away pictures.

Turn 4

Might be some action there as that is a heavy braking section of the track.
