i'm headed to san francisco, and was thrilled to figure out that infineon/sears point is only 30 miles away, and laguna seca is 120 miles. thinking of getting another trackbike once i get settled.

part of the fun in milwaukee - was the 8-12 buells all pitted together at blackhawk and the fun/friends/dogs/kids/spare parts/moral support. any such thing around there?

thx,
D

I'm in the Sacramento area and I usually do track days at Thunderhill or Infinion. Unfortunately, I am usually the only Buell in attendance, but I would be glad for the company. The more the merrier.
I have a track day at Infinion on the 16th of January. I've ridden(crashed is more accurate) at Laguna Seca. I am going for my race license, for AFM, in February at Thunderhill.

Dora,

AFM does have a few Buells entering their races but as I have read, not too many. You might shoot Terry Parsley a note to see just how many. I know that Vallejo put a major effort out last year that he headed.

He's on Badweb as buelldyno_guy

AHRMA has a few others but really only for a couple races at Miller and maybe Willow.

WSMC has a bunch but they're all "down here" - an 8 hour drive for you.

We will do a track day a year up at Thunderhill but last year was a bust.

From http://www.afmracing.org

Formula IV , allows four-stroke twins to be from 251 to 650cc, four-stroke multi-cylinder engines from 400 to 550cc, street-based two-stroke twin engines from 201 to 250cc, four-stroke single cylinder engines from 251 to Open cc, 4-stroke, 2-valve, air-cooled twins from 251 to 810cc and push-rod, air-cooled twins from 251 to 1210cc. It was created at the request of enthusiastic riders who specifically wanted to create a class which should give close competition between a wide variety of bike types.

Slaughter,
That's the class I'll be running in, but they changed the limit on air-cooled twins down to 1000 cc. San Jose BMW was going to run Brian Parriott on a 1200 and it would have had too much of a horsepower advantage.

Wonder if the rules were re-written SPECIFICALLY because of the Parriott/San Jose teaming?

1000cc... that really does limit you to the XB9. Bummer. Mine is 1169cc and I was thinking of at least ONE AFM race in the coming year...

From what I understand of the situation, it was. The other class you could run is Formula Twins Open. 651-Open cc 4-stroke twin cylinder, naturally aspirated.
Tough class though, you would be going against Ducati 999s, Aprillias and that BMW of Pariott's.

Yeah - kinda like the Formula Twins down here. Good for practice in a fast crowd for sure but NO chance for a podium.
