Cliffs:
Author wrote a hatchet job article against one brand he doesn't like (All Balls) and recommends literally anything else. YMMV.

In my several bad experiences with some of the "quality brands" he listed... I keep a set on the bike, and I change them at every tire change no matter what they 'feel like'. #Buellizm, lol.

FYI, if you are traveling and have a problem, Napa Auto stocks the right size but only ONE per store, and I was surprised to find that Fastenal also stocks them.

My experience with bearings is, Don't buy Chinese! Where I worked started stocking Chinese bearings and we had so many failures that we finally got them to quit stocking them. They were total crap, heck, you could tell just by looking at them. The finish on the races was horrible. When I need bearings I go to a place that sells the Chinese stuff because they have to because people want cheap. Fortunately they also stock Nachi bearings from Japan. These are excellent bearings. Many others on the good list have made high quality bearings but be sure and look where they were made. FAG used to be German made, now they're made all over. Same with many on that list. USA, German and Japanese are all high quality bearings in my experience. Another thing to consider is what kind and how much grease is in these bearings and the seal quality to keep it clean.

Hey Tootal- how ya been dude? curious as to what spec these bearings originally were. which abec spec and which clearance spec. A lot of folks just look at bearing number and seals/shielded and they are good to go. those of us in industry generally dig a lot deeper into what we really ought to have. I think a lot of this stuff and what would/might be a better application.

That's true. When I was working I had access to a bearing book that showed exactly what all the numbers and letters meant on the side of the bearing. It showed all the specs so you could upgrade or downgrade for that matter. No access to it now although if need be I can still text the guys still working if I had a specific question. I haven't tried finding this information on-line. I'm sure somebody would rather sell you a book than give the info away!

All is well here. My buddy and I modified a bottle rinser yesterday. Had to extend the cam so some jaws would open wider. We were successful and then since they are closed for indoor service we were bet that we couldn't drink all the leftover draft beer by the owner. We took that bet! We lost, but we gave it our best!!
