My speedo had been cutting in and out but last night after my first night run with it. While I was struggling to find neutral I noticed the fan kicking on was making the speedo jump to 20ish MPH. I'm guessing there are some wires that have worn thru the insulator and are shorting to ground. Also ECMSPY said the VSS was shorting. I already pulled the front of the bike apart and checked it out. The harness was pretty tight against the ignition so I'm going to get some glasses on and inspect it. Anyone know where else I should check for a short to ground? Thanks |

If you have a VSS code, I'd start there. It screws into the engine case at the front of the final drive belt (right side, low, in front of the swingarm) |

I decided to just get the sensor. I checked the old sensor with an ohm meter and found from center to one of the outer pins was about 15M ohms. The new sensor was about 4M ohms so I am hopeful that it will correct the issues. I'm taking it for a test ride later. |
