Knox, what bike do you have? Your profile says you have a XB9R, in that case there are other luggage options. I know Hepco Becker makes racks that fit the short wheelbase Lightnings, I'll see if it can be adapted to the Firebolt.

I picked this bike up cheap, ex-stunter. So the rear sprocket needs to be changed... It tops out at around 45mph at the moment.
