My rear wheel bearings on my 2 bearing wheel are rough, should I buy new bearings or spend the extra dollars to get the 3 bearing wheel? I have about 12k miles on this current set of bearings.

I'd say it depends on how long you're planning on riding the bike. If you plan to ride your Uly 'til the wheels fall off, buy the 3-bearing wheel. If you expect to ride it another 3-4 years and then get something else, just install new wheel bearings and check them regularly in the future.

I strongly suggest the new wheel.
No guaranty that they will be sold for much longer.

^ That is another factor to consider. If you don't do it now, you may not get another chance.
