If the engine does this how does it feel on the engine.

Since I did the "wire-to-ECM" repair the bike has been fine. Tonight I got the throttle thing again. Bike was the same temp, not hot in the frame, under the seat or the ECM (moved) and all was as before with a full tank of fuel.

Came off the highway and down the side street to my home. First gear and 4k revs. It then HELD the revs and would not allow any more and had a very slight popping from the can. I can not be sure but this sounds like a engine rev limiter and/or spark skipping possibly due to engine temp.
I pulled up, engine still running, and then carried on for a longer ride to test it out. The bike was fine and I could not make it do the same thing again.

It deffo feels like some sort of rev limiter thing I just do not know enough about what the system should do if this happens.

I've never noticed a pop noise in the muffler. But since all this mode does is kill spark to the rear cylinder. I guess there could be combustion going on randomly in the muffler.

Riding it feels like a 600cc thumper, well maybe a little less vibration.
Since refloating the PCB solder, touch wood, I've not experienced the problem.

I did a couple of summers of spark skip with my '06. On any given day with temperatures above 70F and the bike's speed/load at 70mph it would go into spark skip.

The red light would flash, the bike would run like on one cylinder, it would only maintain about 55 mph, backing off the throttle for about a minute would have it run back up to speed for a few minutes when it would do it again. Long up hill runs were worse. Lots of heat from the seat and pipe.

I cheated mine by running a manual fan wire and switch. I also installed the comfort kit. I leave the fan on all of the time and have not had run/skip since.

"I cheated mine by running a manual fan wire and switch". Yes this is a very good idea for the 06 bikes.

The 10 bike runs nothing like as hot as my 06 bike used to be and it is not, thanks for the info, "spark skipping". I re-fitted the old ECM to see if it was damaged so I will fit the new one and check the wires again.

Thanks for the help Guys.
