Just purchased and have been driving around that Jardine QMI that you insert into the tailpipe. Thought I would share my impressions for those of you thinking of buying one.
It's a quality piece for $35. Probably would fit into any 2 1/4 inch outlet. The bike is actually quieter, I can tell cause I now hear other noises when riding. But what impresses me is how different the power band is now. Instead of the ubrupt take off without the insert, this thing now pulls smoothly instead. Makes first gear take off much easier to. But I have to say I sort of miss the glug glug glug of the beast at idle and the scary power. I would say this thing would be great for long trips, but around town, I may leave it out. The nice part is, it's easy to insert/remove, and it's cheap. I'm glad I have it.

I completely agree with you. I love the loud racket the Jardine makes without the insert but it is much more bearable for long rides with it in. I need to find a way to get a better seal with it in since it makes a bit of a whistling sound under acceleration due to the lack of a proper seal around the insert.
