Dang! Not good news, I really should give Erik a buzz and see how much the RX wheel will set me back, and when it will be available.

I'm sure HD owns the tooling.
With any luck at all, the "re-sourcing" part refers to a secondary operations vendor like the powdercoater or machiner, and not the actual foundry. Transferring the tooling for the actual casting work would be much more problematic, I'd think.

I'm trying to find out more, will say what I can when I can.

I still don't have anything conclusive. The 7 black wheels that we got in under the wire are getting here this week. The 5 that went on backorder, clear 3/02 now say back order clear 3/12. I'm not counting those chicks til they hatch.

Same story with the axle/bearing kits that go with those wheels, 7 on the way, but the 5 that went on backorder are now clear.

I was hoping that maybe it was the axle/bearing kit that was causing the "re-sourcing" on the Uly wheels since the Uly mag tone wheels come WITH that kit. But since they axle/bearing kit just went active again, that doesn't appear to be the case. The Mag tone wheels still say 7/13 BO clear date.

Update:
2010 Mag tone wheels still say "BO clear 7/13/2012, re-sourcing"

2010 Black wheels and cherry bomb rear wheels are now active again, and the 5 that I had on backorder are in-transit to me, which is good because most of the others are gone.

Still don't have any info that tells me what it is about the Mag tone wheels that has pushed them all the way out to July.

BTW, I did also inquire about the original 2 bearing Mag tone wheel. It is not available either, is obsolete, the superseding part is the 2010 mag tone wheel that is being "re-sourced".

Bit the bullet and ordered the black 3 bearing ULY rear wheel and axle/bearing kit/seal kit from American Sportbike just a bit ago. It cost more but it was available. I looked at the difference in frame color and the magnesium colored wheel and figure the difference in the black wheel and the frame is about equal so it "might" not be noticeable and could actually look better. It's for my son's 07 ULY.

American Sportbike has 1 or 2 black 2010 rear wheels left.

No red stripe three bearing wheel is offered. Just plain Designer/pirhana black, no stripe.

Update: I have 9 of the 13 Uly (heavier duty) magnesium tone three bearing wheels arriving imminently. The other 4 are likely not far behind. I have about 8 on unconfirmed backorder with customer, I'm sure a few of those will back out.

So if you wanted one, order it soon, who knows how long they'll be available this time. I'm ordering more now...

I had turned them off on the web site as it didn't make sense to collect orders that I might never be able to fill. It's turned back on again.
