Update: Took the bike out on a 100+ mile ride last weekend. This was a mixed highway to rough dirt road (just a bit above a trail in quality), with elevation changes from about 5000 to over 9000 feet, and long periods of low speed running.

Result: Flawlessly made the trip (which is good since I was way out of cell coverage).

Engine manners maintained the above postings: The addition of the lower third of the RPM range was very very nice. Bike could putter along at low RPM without a hiccup.

No overheating issues, no CEL, just smooth running. I'll try to get some MPG stats together as I get back to 'regular' riding, as this past trip didn't match the riding I normally do while monitoring MPG.

Overall: Even happier than before about the modification. The bike always ran great at highway speeds, and 'okay' at low RPM running. The bike now runs 'good' at low-RPM, and still runs great at highway speeds.

Sheesh! I finally put mine in and like it! But never did any resetting. Was not in the box (09). Noting fast idle and meaner attitude. Front comes up in a couple more gears. Talk to me about TPS resets etc...and thank you. Euly

2008 and later Buell XBike TPS reset procedure...

Set the Run/Stop switch to Run.

Turn the ignition key to the On position; do not crank or start the engine.

Open the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second.

Close the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second.

Repeat the throttle open/close procedure a two more times for a total of three times in succession.

Turn the ignition key to Off then turn it back to on again.

Done.

Blake beat me to it. Send me PM and I'll write you back with the actual Erik Buell Racing instruction sheet I got with mine ... if you would like it. It goes through some of the details of the program as well as the TPS reset instructions.

Actually I tried to but since the PDF was over the size limit it wouldn't let me. I'm not familiar enough messing with PDF files to know how to adjust it.

Convert it (should be able to "file: save as") into a .jpg image. Ought to reduce the file size...

if the "save as" doesn't work...do a "print screen" with your keyboard, and paste it into a program like Paint or any other image software (figure out your keystrokes for "print screen" and it snapshots what's on your screen - make sure you can see the whole page onscreen; open the image software and select "edit: paste" and there ya go). Crop it and size it like a photo.

The Erik Buell Racing ecm worked out great for me. Plugged it in, did the TPS thing, let it idle for 10 minutes, then rode the bike from Boston to DC. Averaged 49.7mpg for the trip on 93 octane.

Thank you Blake and Andy. I did the throttle thing and critter was noticeably more "raw"...think muffle louder and little more vibes...but I like. Have not idled it for 10 nor "snapped" the throttle off so will go through sequence. In any case the bike was meaner after install without TPS reset anyway. Using the front wheel altitude indicator. Thanks again.

I ordered my Erik Buell Racing ECM on friday, sept. 9 and my credit card was charged on Friday, but I didn't get an email confirmation and no email that it has been shipped. So I went to the Erik Buell Racing website to cheek my order status and there is no way to check the status and no phone number. How do I contact them?

Thanks... I emailed them and got a response within a couple of hours with a tracking number. It turns out, the ECM should be waiting on my doorstep when I get home. I hope it takes care of my problems.

quick update: after two tanks of gas, averaging 50 MPG. maybe slightly higher than before, or maybe I am just more willing to upshift sooner and hold lower RPMs.

Is it common for the DDFI2 bikes to have increased vibration across the rpm's
I love everything about the new ECM but I feel a buzz in the bars now that was never there before.

When I installed my new ECM for standard exhausts, the first thing I noticed where the extra vibrations. Not an issue when riding long distance but it is a new feel. Much improved operation.
