OK, I purchased the Buell Comfort Kit and installed it myself. No problemo. I also added a new battery all from our good friends at American Sportbike. I also went ahead and set the static timing on the bike. Now I can't keep the bike running as the battery drains whild the bike is running. I did purchase the 77-connector, but as of yet, have not installed it. What is my issue? I have installed the old battery and still the same issue. I have checked the grounding that I am aware of, but still draining power from the battery. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!! Please help me out here! What have I done wrong?

Keep it simple. Since you didn't change the 77 plug yet then it's a convenient place to see if everything went back together okay. Pull the scoop off then pull both plugs. Check the main harness side of the 77 for battery voltage, check across the terminals then check the hot terminal to frame. Both should equal each other and the battery. If one reading is low then something's not connected right. If this passes then check your stator output. Don't think you could have done anything to it but coincidences do happen. Next plug everything back together and recheck charge voltage. Hopefully you'll find the problem in short order.

open the primary chain inspection cover and put your nose in it and take a big wiff

if it smells burnt.... your stator is toast

OK. So, back to the beginning.

Did it charge before the comfort kit install?

If it did...retrace your steps. EVERY step. Every single bolt, nut, screw, and star washer. Put your hands on every single one, don't just look at it or in the area where it lives.

If it didn't charge before the install...look somewhere besides your installation.

Ratty, it started after I installed the comfort kit and battery. I am going to take out the battery and the mounting box for the battery to trace my steps back today. I'll try to get back to all with my conclusion. (I'm headed for an overnight fishing event offshore tonight, so it may have to wait until Monday....)

This'll sound stupid...but did you use the terminal screws that came with the battery? Or re-use the ones that were in it?

Sometimes they either don't drill the holes deep enough in the terminals, or ship them with screws that are too long, and the screw bottoms out before it tightens on the terminal.

Change one thing at a time. Put the old battery in, see if it charges (could be a bad battery). Do the wiggle test while it's running, and see if anything changes.

also, just because your terminal screws are tight does not mean your cables are tight. you may need washers on the battery terminal screws if they are bottoming out as rat indicated.
