Does the Uly have them? I can have both blinkers act as emergency flashers on my FXDX, but I can't figure out how to do it on my Buell. I even read the manual and can't find anything in there about it either. Sometimes flashers are nice when pulled over to the side of the road. Do I have them and just not know how to turn them on, or does the Uly just not have any?

Thanks

Try knocking it on its side. Mine will do it when the BAS is tripped.

That's pretty much what I am trying to avoid. You know, by one of those helpful speeding cars while I am parked on the side of the road.

I've been considering adding some Whelen TIR3 police LED's to each corner of the Uly, hooked up to a flasher unit and a switch. I have LED strobes in my S2 brakelight, and an LED high-mount brakelight in the Uly topcase, both hooked to one of these:

Just hook power to it through a switch mounted somewhere easy to reach, and it has outputs for "left" and "right", wire them each to front and back and pick the pattern you like best. Great little box and it'll run anything LED. I'm partial to the police/EMS lights because they're supernova-bright.

I have the yellow TIR-3's mounted on the front of my handguards and they make great flashers. I'm working on a solution for the back (whenever I finally get home) for the rears so that I can do the same.

I have had the yellow TIR-3's save me twice this year. Both were on back/rural roads, approaching intersections in the late afternoon/early evening and both times, cars approached their stop sign, stopped and then proceeded to start pulling out. I have a button mounted on the back side of the left hand guard that when depressed fires the TIRs into flash mode. I can just lift a finger forward and my knuckle will trigger it.

Each time, they stopped once I popped the switch and got their attention.

I am a habitual tire watcher and when approaching rural intersections, I always watch for the tell tale front tire roll while covering a brake and getting light on the throttle in anticipation of not being seen.

The TIRs are just one more tool in my bag.

The TIRs have a flasher (or better stated, a flasher with different patterns) built in to them.

There are two different TIR families. Some DO have flashers built in, yes - multi-mode with three wires (hot, ground, and mode). There are also some that are "dumb" and require an external flasher, like the lights that were OEM in the Buell XP kit on the Ulysses.

Just a forewarning for anyone looking on ebay for some TIRs. 2 wires will be cheaper...but you'll need a separate flasher box like I listed in my post above. Make sure to ask your seller before you pony up the $ : )

You are correct. Mine came with the 3 wires and I set the mode on them. I forgot about the 2 wire units and the lack of the internal flasher.

Thanks for the info. I guess the answer is the Uly does not have flasher capability built into it like my Harley does. I just assumed all bikes did. I just would like to be able to make my turn signals flash, front and rear with the push of a button or two. I'm not very knowledgeable about wiring things though, so I probably won't have them, at least for a while.

Dynasport, you're correct. No flashers on the Buells. Not sure why, but they are nice to have at times. I've used mine on several occasions on my BMW.
