I had a long ride of about 4 hours yesterday, most of it in 90 plus heat and at 50 or lower MPH and my "night before heat fix" worked incredibly.

At the area at the right front of the seat/back of the airbox where the rear rocker cover sticks thru the opening, I took a piece of aluminum foil about 12" long and folded it a couple of different ways to make it about 2" by 6" (3 ply thickness)in size and tucked it in and around the top of the opening essentially sealing it off. Then, I took a 6" by 6" square piece of foil, made a slit in the middle of it and slid it over the metal tab at the front of the seat bottom that slides into place in the opening under the airbox.

The entire ride was so much better than any ride I had been on to date on the Uly...I will be getting the comfort kit in the future, but for the time being what a relief my po' boy comfort kit is.

You should try the heat barriers that special ops makes. I have them and they work great, better than the comfort kit in my opinion.

I have these along with the uly comfort kit. The 2 work great together. I just did a trip from Miami to WV in in what seemed like non-stop 90 degree weather and it really did a good job for me.

I used metal muffler tape for the same spot.

yankee, if you remove your seat and take off the airbox cover (4 torx bolts), the top of the rocker cover sticks thru on the right side of the frame where those two items meet. Take a piece of foil and work with it until you have it about 3 ply thick and enough area to cover the entire opening. Put the airbox cover back on. As you get ready to reinstall the seat, lay it upside down and take about a 6" by 6" square of foil and cut a slit in the center with a razor blade and slide it over the metal piece that sticks out of the front portion of the seat bottom that slides into the middle of the frame (where there is an opening for heat to come out of). Push this foil piece up against the bottom of the seat as you replace the seat. You may need to take the end of a screwdriver/knife/etc. and push the aluminum foil that shows between the airbox cover/seat and the frame back in just a little to keep it from showing too much.

I will try to get some pics tomorrow evening and post for you, it is definitely worth doing until the comfort kit gets there.

the muffler tape may be a better idea because it would be less likely to show up in the gap between the seat and frame like the foil did...i may try that myself and see which turns out best.
