Hey all-

Who's had bags re-keyed?

I bought a used tail case from one BadWebber, and used side cases from another....so I need all 6 locks keyed alike.

Should I remove the tumblers and bring them to a locksmith? or bring the cases in? What should I expect for cost?

What the.... If you have the keys, you just need to carry the key to the top box on your person and put a key for the side boxes in the topcase. Or just order the locks for the topcase to match the sidecase. Just 2 locks that way.

I don't have a key for the side cases, hence the need to rekey! I'd much prefer that they were all the same key anyway...

Cylinders are only like $7 each from eurotechmotorsports...and each cylinder comes with 2 keys.

All four of my bags are now keyed alike with red HB keys : )

Call Jonathan at Bumpus HD, give him your key # and he'll get you MATCHING keys and tumblers with the Buell blue keys. I think they were about $8 ea.

great ideas, all.

I think I stop at a locksmith tomorrow and ask how much. I have also already emailed Chris at Liberty to get a quote on new tumblers (i would only need 4 of them rekeyed or replaced).

2 more questions:
1) if I don't have a key for the side cases,is there a way to get the lock number?
2) if I don't have a key for the side cases, and one of the latches (bag to bike latch) is locked shut, how can I get it apart/open to replace it or rekey it?

oh yeah, I don't have a key for the side cases ; )

If you can get IN to the sidecase (you may have to sacrifice a latch), you can drill the rivets that hold the bike-to-bag latch.

But, they're the same key cylinders in every latch, lid closure or bike attachment. Get one out...you're set if you get keys to match that cylinder.

Can anyone get me a part number for the Buell tumbler with keys? I've got Liberty searching, but he can't seem to find the part...

Thanks,
-Andy

Call Jonathan at Bumpus HD, he made the effort to call HD to find the #, might as well give him your business.
