I want better pants for dual sporty riding this summer. I have thick textile riding pants that are too damn hot, so either need to get some perforated riding pants, or dirt bike pants. I'm leaning towards dirt bike pants, but have yet to go look at any in person. I'm assuming they are very breathable. Is that safe? I guess there is no armor, but the denier should holdup much better then denim? What's really pushing me towards them is that there are plenty in my size to choose from for $20.    Thoughts? I will be wearing a vented textile jacket, and street boots. | ||

I'm not an expert on this but it's my understanding that those are to be worn over armour that is already strapped to your body. | ||

A problem with dirt bike pants is they are made to go over Knee/Shin pads. This makes the pants baggy in the knees when not wearing the pads. | ||

They are airy enough, but not like mesh. You wear suit armour or strapped on armour underneath as Pete mentioned. As revealed by the pictures you attached, the pants are designed for pretty substantial knee+shin protection as well as hip, thigh and tail bone as well. You'll find them to be baggy without the armour, and the denier was not designed with asphalt abrasion in mind. Unless you are willing to pony up for the armour (which you should if you are doing anything more challenging than a dirt fire road), get a good street-riding pant. Just my opinion. | ||

I don't like my dirt bike pants. I found them hot because the synthetic material does'nt breath. Maybe you can find some hot weather ones that have panels or some mesh in it. | ||

I like my dirt bike pants for my dirt bike... which is falling over often, generally at 2-10 mph. My skin crawls at the thought of wearing them and sliding down the street at 30 to 60 mph.... oooowwwwwwww! First gear mesh pants with the zip out liner zipped out work pretty well. Hot until you sweat or when you are stuck somewhere, but fine if you can move. | ||
