I just got my bike back from its 20k service and went to reset my suspension settings and found that my rebound adjusters now only turn just over one full turn. What is involved in getting the full range of adjustment back?

I'm not keen on the idea of going back to the dealer at this point. Their Buell tech had always done a good job on my bike previously, but this last time they made multiple mistakes - put on wrong tires, messed up my HID wiring, overtightened flyscreen screws causing it to warp, and screwed up my suspension.

I just changed my fork oil (20k service) and had to go through the procedure for indexing the rebound adjuster on one side. It's not difficult (the shop manual covers it) but you will have to remove the fork legs and partially disassemble them to do it. If you paid a dealer to service the bike I'd try to make them straighten it out. It's a pretty big job to do.

That's what I was afraid of.
The left and right adjusters don't even have the same amount of adjustment left in them - the right has about a 1 1/8 turns and the left has just under 3/4 of a turn, so I have no idea how the rebound is actually set.

I don't have any of the suspension tools yet, so I guess I'll take it back and get them to fix it. I'm guessing the tech is gonna be pissed having to redo it.

Call them and tell them it's screwed up and you want them to pick it up, fix it and deliver it back. They may laugh at you but it's worth a try, considering.

Well he better be pissed he screwed it up, not that hes working on your bike.

Same thing happened to me. Except mine was about 1.75 turns. That was enough to get to my normal adjustment, so I haven't fixed it yet. I DID feel ripped off at having paid a couple hundred bucks to have them screw up the job.

They sent out a follow up note requesting feedback. I told them what happened, never heard another word.

Now I endeavor to never have one of them work on my bike again.

I'm taking it back and make them fix it right, but my maintenance contract is up with them in a few days and I plan on doing all future services myself.

I'm sure it will be fun explaining to the service writer chick what a rebound adjuster is and why I care that mine don't work any more. While they don't seem particularly hostile to Buells in the service department, they don't seem to see many of them. I think they only have one tech that works on Buells and he's been there since before I bought the bike back in '06 - I'd expect he should know how to do a 20k service
