Holy CR#P!! I grabbed a nearly new stock X seat on ebay and dropped it on the 08 today just to see what all the hoopla was about with people saying how different the seats were. Well I am 6'2 and I am now on tippy-toes! Man this seat is tall! It also feels really good. I won't have a chance to really put some serious miles on till this weekend but so far I like it. Heck I bet I can look eye to eye with Big Rig drivers now!!

A warning. I did the same thing. It felt great commuting back and forth to work. I then headed off on a 3000 mile week long tour up through parts of Canada, and upstate ME,NH,VT&NY. I wasn't home 5 minutes before I took that seat off. I'm 6'2" also....

There's a rule on the Iron Butt site that says something to the effect of "NEVER change a piece of equipment immediately before leaving on a long ride". It's a good rule.

I like the 06 seat better for my knees but the 08 better for my butt. Even through my riding gear I can feel the seams of the 06 digging into my skin but at least it's better than knee pain.

Thats the reason I wanted to try it , too many plastic and stainless steel parts in my right knee means that the less angle the better , which this will do. Will my butt agree? We will see!

I couldn't stand the 08 seat and went to the 06 stock seat. My butt just couldn't take the 08 and I kept sliding forward. The 06 seat sits higher and there isn't quite as much heat on my right leg either. I'm getting ready for my first long distance trip on the Uly and will comment on overall comfort when I return.

I'm 6.0 with a 34" inseam and find the higher seat better on my knees too. The 08 seat never felt right from the beginning and now, 4K miles later I don't really have a problem with the 06. Will my butt agree after >2K miles? I don't know but in 3 weeks I'll have the answer.

I use the '06 stock seat whenever I am heading out for more than a 100 mile trip or two up. I use the '06 low around town and short trips. I am 6' with at 32" inseam.

I carry my Air Hawk for trips over 300 miles and usually start using it about then.

After many 1400+ mile trips I still love riding this bike. My back was messed up years ago, and I cannot even set in a living room chair for more than an hour without discomfort, so to be able to ride for ten to fourteen hours in a day is saying a lot for how I feel about the seat. And I have done multiple day riding trips. I do move all over this thing, from front to back, leg dangle and all. Two up long trips I need to get off every 100 miles or so because I can't move around so much.

I still don't see how someone wearing riding gear can feel the seams, both pairs of riding pants I have are double in the seat area and one is mostly mesh.

As a volunteer on a test ride day a the HD shop, I rode an '07 on several loops. I didn't like the narrow front. Opinions being like A-Holes, this is close the the root of the situation.

I've done 1400 miles in 2 days on the stock 08 seat and found it suprisingly nice , I would like some stretch room though and thought the X seat would do that . Time will tell.

I'm glad that some like the 08 stocker. As I said time will tell and after my trip I may hate the 06 stock but so far all is good. I couldn't stand the 08 for 50 much less 500 miles. My 08 seat is in a box in case I decide to go back to it but I doubt that will ever happen unless something happens to my 06 seat. Mine just doesn't fit me. YMMV

Over half the ride was below freezing so maybe my butt was a chunk of ice and couldn't tell. What I didn't care for was because it was like a bucket I felt pushed into the airbox, I would like to be able to move around more , which I am about to find out if the X seat will suffice , heading out now for a ride.

Quick 30 mile ride , way too early for my butt to tell me anything but for me , the X seat is superior in every way. I sit more natural on the bike , I have more room , everything just fits better. Tie will tell if its good long haul but I really really like this seat so far. (I'm 6'2 . 245 lbs.)

everything just fits better.
That's the way I feel too. It just fits better in every way. I feel that it was a good move and doubt that I'll ever put the stock seat back on my XT. My only complaint is that because it's taller and I have a bag on the pillion I have a hard time getting on and off. I've got back problems and longer rides demand a back rest. Glad you like it so far. BTW did you buy it new or from a badwebber?

Got it on ebay with a "make an offer" listing from a Harley Guy in california. He didn't know what it fit but it was very apparent in the picture what it was.

That's great. I bought mine new but they're not expensive as seats ago. For a stock seat I'm impressed with the comfort.

I noticed another difference between the seats this weekend. Me and my wife rode up to the Netherlands to check out Kukenhof, do some riding and camp out.
This was the first big chunk of miles I put on the bike with the 06 seat and I noticed it made me slouch after a while do to the bars being so much lower. I am going to throw the 08 seat back on until I can get some risers.
