Hi, everyone

As the title of my thread indicates, in about a week I am going to test ride a 2006 Uly. It has about 8500 miles on it and they are asking $6695 for it. Compared to what I have seen for used '06s, it seemed like a a fair price.

On to my question...are there specific mechanical issues that I should be asking the dealer about? I did a quick google search and found recalls for the sidestand, bank angle sensor and the tall windscreen. Any other known issues that you would recommend asking about or checking documentation on? I will certainly ask for maintenance records, but I am just wondering if there are any issues that I should focus on.

Thanks in advance

Sean

Everything is covered in the New Owners section: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442053.html?1237912851

Take it for a spin, bring your checkbook with you, that way you don't waste a trip back home to grab it : D

Make sure your full face helmet has enough room in it for grinning like you never have! These things will cramp your jaws at first!

If you have not spent much time on a Buell, take a nice long test ride. These bikes really are different. Different can seem wrong at first. It takes a while to actually appreciate just what it's all about. There's a lot to it really. The ride won't be worth shit if the suspension isn't set correctly, for example.
There aint nothin else like it. After you buy it you will be in for a whole new world!

Sean,
I don't know where you're located but Big Sky in Great Falls Montana just received some factory demos. I bought an 08 "X" for $7499 (less than 3K on it). When I talked with Devon earlier he had another 08 and an 07 as well as some "XT" demos for the same price. I'm in Denver so it's only about 800 miles for me to go get it.

Don't be taken aback by the cooling fan (if it even runs, way up there in Wisconsin in March). It definitely wasn't a dealbreaker, but you have to adjust your attitude for the looks and questions you might get about it. Part of the character of the bike (until the dead of summer in a traffic jam).

I remember my test ride like it was yesterday - I felt like a superhero on that bike (still do).

At 8500 miles you might see if you can get the dealer to negotiate a price break on the 10,000 mile service. It could be a little expensive if you don't do your own forks.
