Back again before spring, I posted this in the fall and on the trouble board. 08 Uly has lost the " I'm going airborn feeling " 3200 rpm is the launch, now it stops when it hits 4000 it's just dull till about 4500, then becomes a Buell again. Plugs, air cleaner and ECM reflash, and no change. Two different dealers, still not fixed. Any suggestions on what to look for? I wired exhaust but problem did not go away just a new sound.
. So I'm leaning towards a combo of o2 sensor and the exhaust ?

Your idea sounds like a good place to start. Others have also had their intake manifold seals start leaking.
Now if you had an intake/exhaust leak you would think it would be noticeable throughout the entire RPM range. But if you look at the dyno charts these bikes there is a noticeable dip in the power in the range you are talking about. So maybe the bike as a whole is just running a little leaner and the problem is just being exacerbated in this particular range.
Did you experience any different fuel consumption when this starting happening?

My 08 Uly has a noticeable dip in power between 4200-4800 rpm. It is most noticeable when I accelerate onto the highway entrance ramp. This occurs once the bike is warmed up(which it always is) and shows no other symptoms. I usually get 45-48mpg and always run the bike long enough allow the ecm to play its "loop" game.

The lull in power doesn't bother me much as I don't cruise at that RPM and under power it sweeps past the problem are quickly. I chalk it up to the ECM working through its EPA requirement.

I have mentioned this to my Buell Technician and he agreed it was just the ECM having to deal. Basically a non-issue for me. NUTS

No change in mpg. No backfire ( intake leak ? ) My bike ran like it should for 20 k! I won't accept " they do that. " ( one dealer answer! ) no fault codes report.

Rekrab, have you done anything to clean the injectors and fuel system?

If not, a quick cleanout with Seafoam is generally the easiest way to go and gives IMO the biggest bang for your buck.

Just run your tank almost dry, then dump about a third to a half of the can in your tank and fill it all the way up. You'll see some black smoke for a little while, but that's just carbon build-up getting blown out of your jugs. It's incredible stuff--it's helped me run a number of vehicles up over a quarter-million miles.

Otherwise you could ask what it would cost at the stealership for a cleaning/flushing of your fuel system/wallet...

Rekrab, I mean no offense but... what are your expectations of the Thunderstorm engine? Do you feel the motor should pull from 3200 until it tops out? There are very few motors that offer a powerband that is wide enough and strong enough to please all the velocity nuts.

I suspect most engines have a lull/dip/gap in their RPM range. Possibly you have become so accustomed to your Uly that you notice things most new owners wouldn't. I didn't notice the lull until about 7.5k miles and now Im at 8.5k miles.

I don't believe the motor is in need of correction, rather a by-product of EPA regulations. If we had an 06-07 we'd have played the ECMSpy game and been long done. Instead we have bikes still in warranty and no tuning capability at home.

See if the dealer has another bike you could ride to see if this stumble is present, maybe bring you and the service dept closer to a resolution. NUTS

It really used run like crazy, and the lull is right at the take off point ! When passing it is very noticeable. Even in lower gears it doesn't bring the front up like it use to.
