Yeah, I'm watching the radar for my "gap" to head home. I'm over by the zoo and heading to the Grove area. They usually blow through, we'll see. |

Well that sure was a nice soaking, and it does look like it's just sitting there. Probably a no-go. |

It rained by "the roads" until just after 9, looked like it was most of Miami that was wet, so I figured no one was going to show. |

Yeah, I was checking back and forth 'til about 8:45 and it never stopped raining. I know this is "badWeatherbikers" and all, but standing around next to your bike, IN THE RAIN, isn't exactly the adventure I think people would have in mind. |

Sorry, missed another. Spent the last 3 days riding in the rain and cold in AK. On the way home now. Hope all those hurricanes pass us by. |

Treadmarks The Alaska trip wasn't by bike, was it ? Did you rent something while you were there ? Both hurricanes or tropical storms look to miss us (at least right now). Others may not be so lucky. Saw the other post -- other than the flats and bearing problem -- how did you like the '08? (Message edited by florida_lime on August 30, 2008) |

Treadmarks The Alaska trip wasn't by bike, was it ? Did you rent something while you were there ? Saw the other post -- other than the flats and bearing problem -- how did you like the '08? We rented a 7 day solo trip on an 08 to ride two up fully loaded to the arctic circle and back. That ride is for (I quote my wife here) pu$$ies. We only had one flat tire there, 20 miles before the circle. Simple plug and pump (just like I like them). A couple of days later we decided to take the mCcarthy Trail, which is 60 miles one way on what is labeled primitive road. This road pounded the 08 uly into submission by the time we made it to the top. On the way back we were lucky enough to experience 4 separate flat tires. a low fuel light come on, and also noticed the rear wheel bearings coming apart. The 08 uly is more tractor like in it's power delivery than an 06 with the problems addressed. This new uly has no where near the power and smoothness that mine has, nor does it get more than 45 mpg...no matter how I drove it Well, compared to the 06 with our armchair engineering efforts....It pretty much sucked. As a Badweb team, we resolved any issues that detracted the uly from it's specific mission, and provided solutions which allowed badweb sponsors to provide us with tooling/equipment necessary to make mission. On the 08 the brakes pulsed and dove badly, The fuel maps are still so lean there is a definite stumble off idle-when you need it the most, It was still sucking on it's break in oil at 4k miles when we picked it up. Did you rent the bike in Washington? We're you able to go to Hyder, Haines, Denali? |

Rented the 08 uly in Ancorage. Took the long westward ride through denali to fairbanks. Did several 2-300 mile rides based from fairbanks, then a 450 mile ride to the arctic circle and back to fairbanks. Left Fairbanks on richardson road traveling east to glenallen. Spent a couple days there and took a ride through Chitna to the glacier at the end of Mccarthy Road/trail, stopping at mcarthy for a nine dollar hotdog and then checking out the Kennecott mine. Left there for the Kenai Peninsula then back to anchorage to return the replacement vstrom to AK Rider. It was a great vacation week and the experience was awesome. I am sure I will go back to explore more of the vast wilderness Alaska has to offer. |

Not supposed to be any rain today at all. Anyone up for it? On another note, Hanna won't do much to us, but the Noaa boys across the way from me are all really itchy about Ike. |

Mine are permanently attached to the house and hinged from the top, and spend most of the year up. If Ike comes through as a cat 4 or greater, my ass is gonna be gone anyway. |

Things are looking a little better for you, unless you planned on going to the Keys for some R&R. |
