I searched the archives and could not find out the advantage og the irridium spark plugs. So what will the do for me the new owner of an 06? Are they worth it? Or are they like splitfires, all hype?

They are supposed to be more foul resistant and have a longer life than conventional plug design.

I am not aware of any proof of a power advantage.

I had the Buell Race Plugs (split fire) type in the bike for the first 18k miles with no issues. I then replaced them with the NGK Irridium plugs from Al @ American Sport Bike. I noticed right away it took a few long rides on the bike to get the ECM adjusted to whatever was going on with them. I then noticed during several commutes that the bike actually seemed (right thigh) to run hotter than with the race plugs.
I put the race plugs back in and ran it on a long (900mile) trip and I noticed the back was running cooler. I also like the way it idled and ran better than with the NGK's.

Of course all of this is just my 2cents with no heat measuring device used.
