I know summer is almost upon us but has anyone tried another brand (after market ) of heated grips other than Buell, which seem to be a not so hot price? I am planning ahead for the next winter, seeing that gas will certainly not go down in the near future... Thanks  K.A. | ||

Heated Grips are nice, but if you are planning on riding every day there is nothing like a pair of Gerbing G-3 Heated gloves. I have the Gerbing heated jacket liner also. | ||

You can use some less expensive heated grips, but look into the stock switch set-up from American Sport Bike. I just installed mine a few weeks ago and it works great and the price is very reasonable. (I had some old heated grips laying around the garage.) | ||

I bought the stock switch from American Sport Bike, (great service!), and a pair of Deutsch connectors, (Batts Racing, thanks guys!), to attach to a pair of Polly Grip Heaters for a really neat installation! | ||

+1 on bagging the grips and getting electric gloves. I have the Gerbings/HD jacket liner and gloves. Haven't used the heated grips on my FLH since I got the gloves. The grips are nice (at least for me) for those early spring / late fall days when you just can't get home by sundown and the temp drops. For cold weather (and I mean 35 or below) the grips didn't do a lick of good for me, but the gloves rock. | ||

I picked up polly-heaters for about 40 bucks, installed them myself in under an hour. If you ride every day during winter, they are a life saver! I remember someone posting the how-to here somewhere, which is where i got the idea... +1 on the Polly Heaters. Very clean and easy install. They take a couple of minutes longer to warm up than the other types but once warm they are great. However, if you want really warm hands, in really cold weather, heated gloves are the best way to go. As warm as the Polly Heaters get the tips of your fingers will still get cold. | ||

I went with a jacket liner and gloves from warmnsafe.com . Plenty of heat plus an adjustable controller. The owner,Mike, is a heck of a nice guy, too. He personally e-mailed me and answered my questions. | ||

I love my polly heaters. Take maybe 3 miles to warm up, but have no moving parts to wear out, and don't get hurt when you replace grips. | ||

Heated gloves are great IF you have them. Where we ride, the temps can vary in spring and fall. Heated grips are always ready to go. +1000 on the Polly Heaters. Day is hot as hell! | ||

Ihavemanyfleas- Where did you mount your polly heater switch? Nutt- you should be able to make the polly's work you may just have to push the heating element into the handlebar a bit farther to get the throttle lock bar end to slide in far enough. If its the throttle lock I am thinking of it will work. | ||

I used the Oxford Heaterz from Lockitt on my Uly. Came with a 4-heat range LED display/switch and a mount, which fits nicely on the left controls when you bend it just right. I used it all winter in Arkansas (sounds warm but it was 20-30 really often this winter) and loved them. I used them with a pair of Schmidt cold weather work gloves from Tractor Supply, and my hands were never cold. I ride about 30 minutes to work every day on the bike. Easy install, looks fine. Mounted my switch above the dash lights on the right. When you have the fly screen off - it looks like it's the best fit for the guts... Here's a pic of the outside. The nice thing about Pollys and Ulys is that all you need is the Buell OEM switch housing and some deutsch connectors and Voila! Excellent grip heaters and a nifty way to turn them on/off. I connected the OEM switch to my Pollys but my bike is an 05 12S so there wern't any accessory deutsch connectors pre wired in. So... I said to myself; "Self, you don't need no stinking deutsch connectors!" So.. I just cut, snipped and spliced it all together  My Pollys are darn near my favorite mod that I've done. It ranks #2 right behind the "headlights running direct from battery via relays" mod. Combined with Tourmaster winter Elite gloves, I can ride comfortably in the high 20's, low 30's F. I've done the low teens and I can't say my hands were warm but I can't say that they were painfully cold either. That's a good thing | ||

I am very pleased with my Polly Heaters too. I used them tonight even. Seventy degrees after dark on my way home, my gloves got damp with sweat when it was ninety degrees earlier today. So nice to just warm the cool dampness away. | ||

I used the Oxford Heaterz and they work very well. They use a variable dial heat controller although I usually ramp it all the way up till hot and then ramp it down and that's usually just right. Just to expand on my earlier posting. I bought the '08 RHS switchgear from American Sport Bike, a set of Polly Heaters from Appleton HD and a pair of Deutsch plugs from Batts Racing. These installed perfectly and work a treat. It looks like a standard Buell install except for the shrink-wrapped wire exiting discretely under the handlebars and disappearing into the "rats nest" where the Deutsch connectors plug into the OE plugs of the '08 switgear. Job done! | ||

I need a hand wrapping my head around hooking up my heaters. I bought polly's, and I have the new oem module from american sportbike. It looks to me like the I use the two grey connectors on the module to splice it in with the existing harness. Then the other two connectors go to the grips. Am I right on this? | ||

Just an obtuse update to this thread... If you choose to go with Polly heaters (I did a second time for my new to me Uly) don't drill any holes in the bike. Use Al's switch setup, or some other option. Do NOT drill a hole in a perfectly good Buell for the Polly supplied switch and bezel... |
