Does the XT have the same heavy duty muffler as the X? The XT has the lighter wheels of the Lightning, does it also have the "less substantial" exhaust as well?

Part numbers show the same muffler for the 08 XT and the following:
07/08 12S
07/08 12Scg
07/08 12Ss
07/08 12STT
08 12X

That's interesting; the X had a different outlet from the other 12s, and the muffler was built considerably stronger, so it could be used as a bash plate.
I just went to Buell.com and it looks like the X and XT have the same curved outlet, while the Ss has a straight outlet. I'm going to assume it's the same heavy wall muffler for the "Adventure" bikes that's been used since '06. I also assume that the "Streetfighters" get the same exhaust they've had all along. It's not that important, I was just curious.

My finacee has an Scg and here muffler sounds better than my Uly's. A tad louder and a tad deeper. I always thought this was some sort of weird illusion but perhaps not. It is most noticable when rideing, but also in the garage. O well, I guess it is time for a drummer (this winter), the rust is starting to show up on mine.

Also, note that the old muffler number superseded to the new muffler number for the bikes listed above. I believe (but could be wrong; it happens to me daily) the 08 muffler is the same as the 07 STT.

And you aren't imagining things. Every time I fire up our XT for someone to ride, I notice how much better it sounds than my 06 X.

Another reason to keep my 07, cause I love the "grill". Ride safe Werner
