Treadmarks square idle is a mod done to the fuel map to smooth the idle some. You need ecm spy to do it. There is a thread here with all the details.

Johnboy does a much better job in explaining it than I can.

Hey Tom,

1st thing you need is ECMspy along with the drivers (the software) and a cable (the hardware, which is custom made for ECMspy, and hard to find).

LINK: http://www.ecmspy.com/

Make sure the bike has been warmed up, properly.

1. Connect cable to your laptop.

2. Connect cable to the port on the bike.

3. Turn ON Ign. and red run switch to RUN

4. Open ECMspy and click on the Fuel Maps tab.

5. Click on Fetch Maps

6. After you have the fuel maps loaded - save the stock maps on your laptop. Do NOT skip this step.

7. Now, change the 4 highlighted squares on the front map (see Map below) to 76 ... then do the same to the rear map, but instead change these to 72.

NOTE: 76Front and 72Rear is just a starting point - your bike may need less or more fuel in the square idle squares.

8. Now burn the new maps in, and you are done with the loading process.

9. Start the bike, with ECMspy still connected and operating) and get the idle to settle in so that only the four squares highlighted are operating (flashin) at idle (it should typically run/idle in the 900 to 1,000 RPM range).

10. Experiment with less or more fuel (via the square idle sqaures) if it doesn't seem to settle in at idle.

11. If for any reason this does not work out for you, you can then retrieve your stock map, reinstall the stock map and set idle per the SM (or simply change the four squares, in the front and back maps, to the stock setting/numbers and burn in the changes).

Also, download the Tuning Manual here: http://www.steveturnbull.co.uk/ Look under ECM Spy, then click on 'Download'.

Or here: www.xoptiinside.com

That should about cover it, I guess ...I hope i haven't missed any steps.

Oh yeah, one last thing, if anything goes wrong, like your bike catches fire and burns down the garage, blame Treadmarks, not me!

Absolutely, the idea is to see what works best for your bike.

I'm still experimenting with a reverse square where the value of my rear square is higher than the front.

Please be sure post your results, if you would.

John

With regard to decel popping, with an aftermarket can (if that's what you're getting at), you might want to try the following:

On both the Front and Rear maps, starting at/with the 1900 RPM vertical column, change all of the values to 40 on the very bottom two horizontal rows (i.e., TPS 10 and 15 starting from (and including) the 1900 RPM column and moving to the right, up to and including the last vertical column).

Try that and see if it helps with your decel popping.

EDIT:
I can't recall the user name of the forum member that came up with this, sorry ... do a search and you should find it.

Would configuring for an open loop idle not stablelize things even more?
