I just installed a set of Touratech footpegs on my '08 Uly. Very nice build quality and very aggressive BUT they are slightly higher and about 1" more forward than stock so the shifter is too close and the brake pedal is down to far.

Touratech also has an adjustable shifter and brake pedal but the US distributors won't carry them because of fitment problems and customer complaints. For the price they should be perfect. The US distributor said the shifter could be special ordered and with minor fitting it will be fine. They said not to bother with the brake pedal at all.

With all of that said, I know a few on the board here have installed these same pegs and I was wondering what your work around was. Modify the shifter and brake pedal? Order the shifter and fit it up? Go with a different footpeg set? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks

Hey,
I love my TT pegs and would never go back. I had the exact same problem. I adjusted the brake lever as high as possible. I don't use it a lot anyway and it works for me. The gear shift needed mods. I have photos of what I did and will have to find them. What I did was cut about an inch off the stock lever, drilled as large of hole in the end that left enough metal to be strong, and put a bolt through it that was about the same length as the stock knob was. This was just a test to see what length worked for me. I was going to have one welded up to look nice when I was happy. I never had one welded as the fab'd one still works and looks good (to me) I'll post some pics when I find them.

The stock pegs are really inadequate IMHO and I wanted to install the TT pegs too but, definitely did not want to give up that 1". Be interested to read about how you like them over time once you get them adjusted to work with the controls.

More than once I have had my boots slip off the stockers....thought about doing the "grind job" others have done to the stockers to get more bite on surface. Maybe someday Power Pegs will step up and make a set for the Uly

Great info everyone. I though about cutting about an inch out of the stock shifter and welding it back together. I wonder who at TT set these pegs up on a Uly and said they were OK. Some day I hope to find an aftermarket part that actually fits and works exactly right the first time!

Andrejs2112, I look forward to your pictures.

Thanks

I have the American Sport Bike pegs and really like them. You will not slip off these. They are a little bit higher and shorter. It makes it much easier to walk the bike without banging your shins on the peg tips.

The American Sport Bike pegs were my second choice. Had I known then what I know now I would have them.

With that said, I did a similar mod as Andrejs2112. I did not go quite as short though. I went 15mm ctc shorter on the toe piece. I used a 8mm x 1.25 cap bolt. I drilled a 17/64 hole and tapped it. Installed the bolt with JB Weld and ground the hex part off the cap bolt. The rubber popped on just like stock. I think it will work fine. The proof will be in the test ride!

I'll keep you posted. Thanks Again.

Well, after 160 miles of Malibu canyons the shifter worked great and my Aerostich Combat Touring Boots stayed on the pegs. Success!
