Can't say that I've seen this.. until Sunday. We were out riding, bike was running great.. until I had a sudden loss in power and a serious increase in the engine noise level. Pulled it over and started inspecting everything... turns out the plug in the front cylinder has come completely out .

Once everything cooled off enough to touch I was able to get the plug back in.. however it didn't feel right, but I made it back home. That night I try to put in a new plug.. as I put it in the hole it basically dropped right in.. no turning nothing..obviously not good.

So, I had the dealer do the 10K (at 12K), I'm now at about 19.5K and had no other issues until this happened. I can only think that the tech somehow damaged the threads or did not install the plug properly???

Bad news is I now have to have a new front cylinder, the good news is dealer said it is covered under warranty... no problems.

Just curious if anyone else has ever seen this happen.. and possible causes??

Sounds like the plug was cross threaded.

I had the same thing happen on an old VW Beetle. They were notoriously hard to change the rear plugs on.

Glad the dealer is stepping up.

I changed out the original plugs on mine and found the front one to be scary loose, little more than finger tight.
