I have an older Alter Ego and new Phoenix 2.0 overpants. The jacket is holding up very well after 2.5 years. The best part is the removable outer shell, so I can mesh it on hot days. The pants are great. Easy on/off with jeans, or long johns (even just boxers are great too) underneath. The jacket was $250 new, and the pants I picked up a month ago for $125. I like JR products. My jacket has never experienced a spill, but I can imagine it would hold up well. | ||

I prefer the mesh tex from first gear. It doesnt let in as many bug guts to your shirt, and they hold up pretty well in crashes. | ||

I have one and they work well. I have two. One has the perforated leather panels on the shoulders and selves. It works O.K. but does not flow quite as well as the full nylon mesh. | ||

I've had several Phoenix jackets through the years. Great jacket for the price, but I like my Olympia Bushwacker better. Twice the price, but more versatile with a warmer liner, and 3/4 length-so no ride up. | ||

Have the pants and jacket went down in them and they held up fine. They did what they were supposed to do. Got up picked up my bike replaced the brake lever and road home. | ||

I have the Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh jacket. It is not my first choice for protection, but if the temperature goes north of 90°F, it quickly becomes my favorite. The Phoenix mesh jacket is the only jacket that is comfortable in summer heat. I have never tested this jacket thankfully but a friend did a high side at about 45mph in one and though he was bruised badly and had some minor rash, he walked away with no broken bones. My approach to the jacket is that it is better than no jacket, but if temperatures permit, a better textile or leather jacket will protect you better. | ||

I'm on my third year with mine. It does let in the air as advertised. I'm surprised at how well it has stayed in good shape given that it was so inexpensive. Also, while the liner is not insulated, it does keep the wind and rain out. In my opinion that adds quite considerably to the useful temperature range of the jacket. I use the Phoenix all year - by adding a few more layers in the winter. And not riding much when it is super cold out. A tall size would have been nice, but most of the time I'm sitting down when I'm wearing it anyway. Works fine for that.  |
