Demo'd a TT today and got the free buell messenger bag. Wasn't real enamored with the TT since my ULY is just fine. The bag is pretty nice. Oh yeah, the TT only had about 70 miles on it so I felt obliged to give it some Motoman break-in.

My dealer doesn't demo bikes. They just had me fill out the paperwork and gave me the bag. Nice bag.

Your dealer sucks.

But, if your dealer didn't suck, and would let you demo a bike, which bike would it be?

There was no need to demo... I've ridden them all. And yes my dealer does suck... but they got a Pegasus award from Buell in spite of having to have the Service Organization Area Rep. force them to do my sidestand recall.

Far as I'm concerned the ULY makes all the other Buells kinda suck in regards to body position. For me at least.

I rode a City X yesterday to get my free bag... Wow.. was that a compact bike. The Uly feels like a barcolounger compared to that. The 9 motor...umm... didn't care for it. The 12 is where it's at. But I wouldn't mind a 12S for hitting up the local curves. That would be tits.

I went to my dealer to get one and he said I only have 2 left and I need to give them to people who are considering purchasing a new bike. I was like what the F___ is that. I have purchased 2 new Buells from them in the last 30 months and will be trading in my 06 Uly for an 08 this September. Guess who is not getting the next buell purchase I make.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike that realy sucks. I rode a firebolt and got mine. I sure did not like the seating postion. Maybe an S long would have been a better fit. My fiance', Sara and I went to Seaford Hardley/Buell she test rode a 9X and liked it alot(coming of a BMW F650GS). She asked for a bag and the dimwit salesman said you needed a coupon. I had purchased my Uly at that dealer about a year ago so I called the fellow that sold me my Uly and asked if he could get the lower seat for the 9x so Sara could try the bike she realy liked it and if she could get her feet on the ground she was going to purchase it. That was over two weeks ago and we have not heard back from him. As a result we were at Annapolis Harley and she tried a 12Scg and bought it. Seems like Seaford lost a bike sale and also future Buell sales from us. O by the way after complaning about not getting the bag we got one in the mail from Seaford. Nice bag, better bike(s) poor customer service at Seaford. A plug for Annapolis-The parts counter mngr is a Buell fanatic, also the service mngr is a Buelly as are several of the wrenches. some of the, but not all of the sales force at Annapolis suck-They could use some psychotropic meds. Get a load of this it was 45 minutes before closing on a Saturday and our salesman said it was to late to purchase the bike and seeing as how there are blue laws in Annapolis they could not sell a motorcycle on Sunday so we would have to come back Monday to purchase the bike. Sara and I just looked at each other and then the sales fellow. We said we could not take time off duing the week, we live about 2 hours away and work from 7;30 till 6:00 and we were commited the following weekend so if they could not do the deal in the 45 minutes and if they were not willing to stay open a little after closing we did not need the bike. He was absolutly shocked that we would walk out of a hardley dealership and a purchase after 2 or 3 hours of working out the deal. We put on our jackets and started for the door, I thought we were going to need a tongue board for the sales fellow. Anyway after his NitroGlyceran tablets took hold he talked to the sales mngr and they decided that they would have a set-up crew prep the bike and still do the deal. The bike was built in Oct of 06, they had come off about $1500-$1700 on MSRP and prep fees. We were out about 10 minutes after closing. Are Hardley purchasers such toadies that they will take that type of abuse when enriching a dealer? I will not appologize for slightly inconvenincing a sales fellow when he is going to pocket some of my money. actually seems like they should apologize for making us go through the hoops for their convinience. That seems like helping the fellow that is robbing you figure out how to release the safety on his glock. Sorry about such a long post but I just get so worked up over these issues like managed health care that has enriched the lawyers and business mngrs at the expense of the patient.

My purchase experience:

9/1/2005: Inquired at my local dealer about purchasing a Uly. None were in stock and they did not know when their next one would come in. I worked out a pricing agreement and asked them to call me when one came in so that we could finalize the sale.

9/13/2005: Called to see if one had come in. "Yeah, we got one last week. I forgot to call you, somebody bought it."

9/15/2005: Called again. "Yes, one just arrived it is still in the crate."
"I'd like to come in after work and pick it up if I could."
"Sure"
Take off work early and arrive at 3pm. They wanted to renegotiate the price they had agreed to. Now they wanted to charge $600 for freight and $600 for setup. The original deal was for MSRP plus tax, title and license. I explained to them that I had lots of experience with Buells and knew how long it took a competent mechanic to uncrate it and perform he PDI. I also knew how much Buell charged for shipping. Finally I explained that we had agreed on a price nearly 2 weeks earlier. They said "market conditions" had changed since then because now Buell was sending autographed windshields to the first 100 purchasers. I grabbed my helmet, jacket and gloves, got my wife and son and began to walk out. They came to the front door and said they would honor the previous price. At 4pm we shook on it (including the windshield) and they told me that I had to wait for their finance guy to process everything and to have a seat in the lounge until they called. I sent my wife and kid home and waited...

At 6:30 pm (yes 2.5 hours) the finance guy came and got me. Once everything was signed I went outside to get on my bike and take off. The fuel light was on. They reluctantly filled up the bike and off I went.

9/22/07: Called to inquire about the windshield. First they didn't know anything about a windshield promotion. Then they said that I hadn't asked for one and filled out the paperwork. Finally they said I wasn;t one of the first 100. I called Buell/H-D customer service and found out that my dealer was not participating in the windshield promotion.

Then there was the sidestand recall that they wouldn't do... then the license plate light they said they would order and replace under warranty that I just ended up buying from DaveS 4 weeks later and putting on myself... and now the BAS recall...

My dealer received a Pegasus award last year. How bad are the one's that didn't?

Soloyosh,

Sorry to say it but your story sounds a bit familiar.

I am currently planning to do my 3rd "warranty" action that will involve me buying a new part out of my pocket, wrenching on the bike with my time and avoiding the dealer altogether after they give me 3-4 week lead times to "verify if that is a warranty issue". If they can verify it then they will schedule another appointment and order the parts (any part takes 10 days to 2 weeks to get). Total warranty repair time estimate = 4-6 weeks. Oh, and if I have to leave the bike there overnight they tell me that it will probably be banged up as they have a lot of bikes there for service and they are always moving them around. I wonder why they have so many bikes left in for service? I couldn't believe that they actually told me that. It was as if they were hoping to make me go away.

I am replacing my engine cooling fan soon as it has become erratic and sometimes doesn't run after shutdown. I don't need further verification and realize that this should be fixed to avoid more serious problems.

I honestly don't understand how Buell can build such a wonderful bike and have such a completely terrible dealer network. And yes, I know that they are part of HD, but they should at least have someone in each dealership who is pro Buell and can deliver some level of service to Buell riders.

I will actually be relieved when my warranty expires: at least then I won't have to try and get them to do something to honor the alleged 2 year warranty.

Hopefully it will get better in the future.

Well it seems to me that the best thing for Mr. Buell to do is to continue to improve his product to the point that there is never a need for warrenty work or recalls, thus once we get the deal we want with a hardley dealer, we are finished with them for good. It appears to me that the Buell team is working on this goal and doing a good job of it. Now if perhaps some of the recalls or warrenty work were even easier to perform, we could "all" do the work ourselves. The only thing I need to go to the dealership for now is the TPS reset, but since I am now a member of a two Buell househeld, I can justify getting the device to do the reset myself. I just hope ther is no major warrenty work lurking in my future.

"they should at least have someone in each dealership who is pro Buell and can deliver some level of service to Buell riders."

Perhaps a separate entrance, a Buell sales guy, parts guy and service guy would be in order. When there isn't any Buell stuff going on they can roam the H-D sales floor and treat people with contempt.

I went for a demo ride at Seminole Buell in the Orlando area today; they are a stand alone Buell shop, and a BadWeb sponsor.
I wasn't looking in that respect, but they had Buell accessories - I saw a Drummer and Micron exhaust, ready to go. They have a Buell parts guy who sounded knowledgeable, and a sales person who went out of his way for me.

When my wife saw the messenger bag, she was impressed enough with it that she threatened to return a new backpack (not really her intention for m/c use) she had recently bought me for my birthday !

My dealer gave me one without firing up a bike. Last week, when They got the lowered Uly in, I gave them a bracket for it. It was a thank you for how well they have treated me. They are great people, and I wish I had bought from them.

"Umm we dont know anything about a bag" "Is it like a purse?" "I'll ask the mgr" "He said they only got three bags"

Mean while you walk in the door and the greeter girl is digging her lipstick out of one. Wandering around you see two motorclothes ho's going on break and they each have one. You head out back where the mechs are, one's digging his lunch out of a messenger bag. Head over to the parts counter and you see one hangin up on the coat rack for the parts people......

I stopped in the dealer for 1000 mile checkup on my ULY - while parked up front, the Buell sales guy noticed my bike and came out to the service desk and asked me if I wanted a bag.

Sweet, and good service. Silverdale HD.

Ditto what Chrisb stated. Stopped by the "local" (a 62 mile ride) dealer to check out a bag. Quote "we only got a few in"... all the personnel (not a Bueller amongst them) had them. I wish manufacturers when they do promotions like this would make it a point to treat their existing customers as well as they cater to potential new customers.

I haven't gone by to pick mine up yet. My dealer is pretty good. The owner and I have done a couple of track days together, and he's always hanging out in the showroom. He speaks to me each time he sees me.

I'm sure I could find him and tell him I wanted one. But, as mentioned above, it's a bit of a drive to the shop. About 50 miles from my house. I was just over that way on Saturday, but there appeared to be a big event going on. A band, a lot of bikes, etc. I didn't want to get into all that crowd just for a bag. Plus, I was going riding and didn't want to deal with that bag flapping around for a couple hundred miles.

dang Chad, it is a messenger bag, and unless you look like fats, the waist strap should keep it from flopping around.
