I know that sunny California does not really get cold but we have had a cold spell here (its below freezing at 03:00 when I get off work) and Damacles, my uly has been starting really hard. I know that it is because I have a bike full of of (a** cold oil) per our mechanic at work. I have a load of 15-50 mobil-1 oil which I hope will solve the hard starting issue but... I don't understand the physics behind the nonclementure. 15-50 is thinner than 20-50 at what end of the spectrum? is the first number the cold one or is the second? While I feel that mobil-1 is a superior oil and will protect me more over all, will the reduction in viscosity from 20-xx to 15-xx benefit me in the cold? I just wanted to throw this out to all the riders out there to get your opinions. thanks. T3 |

15 is the cold number and 50 is the warm number. multi viscosity oils are cool, giving you ease of starting but not so thin when hot that they dont provide good lubrication. I run the mobil one v twin all year, it is a great oil imho |
