I just picked up an older Memephis shades fairing and put it on the ULY. Looks pretty good! How do you drill these with damaging? Regular bits I want to use two of the lower mounts fro mthe stocker for it. Matt |

Start with a very small bit and then step by step make the hole larger until it is the size you need. If you are worried about scratching the plastic cover the area with tape. If you have or can find painters tape or gaffers tape it works the best. |

Make darn sure the plastic is warm or it might shatter. |

I've had the best luck not using a drill at all, but a Dremel with a spiral bevelled edge bladed bit (OK, lame description, but it looks like a small barrel, with the cutting edges spiraled around it, and a flat end). Drills tend to grab when they bite and when they do they shatter the plastic. |

How to drill a fairing? Buy it a drink first! Maa bad, I thought you said f-a-i-r-y. Start small and work your way up. |

Screen mounted but I cannot upload - to many KB - I have the camers on the lowest setting so I guess I'm hosed - email me if you want a copy. anyway it worked great - I ran the drill in reverse after a small pilto hole was made - worked like a charm - gradually built up size of bits. Thanks for the help - sorry I can't post the pics. Matt mattham111@sbcglobal.net |
