Hi folks,
saying hello from Silver Spring MD (basically D.C.). Just bought a Ulysses, and am waiting on the shipper so no pics yet (not that I'm sure you need another one of a stock orange 12X).
I've ridden all sorts of things over the years but right now own a Ducati Monster S2R1000, 74 Moto Guzzi 850-T, a '77 IronHead Sportster and obviously an '09 Ulysses. I've also (badly) raced: BSA B50, RS125, GSXR600 and SV650. (Maybe this means I just can't make up my mind : ))
First experience with Buell was at a track day at BlackHawk Farms in Illinois years ago where Buell had a bunch of demo bikes they were letting people ride around the track. I remember how it handled a lot better than I expected and I liked the grunt. Whenever I'd see one on the street since then I'd think back to that demo ride. Fast forward to today and I finally got one. Hopefully we'll have a warm day soon...

Hello From Kaukauna WI.

Long time Buell owner: 96 S1.
As I aged I discovered that seat on the S1 was designed by a sadist. I went to get a 10' XB12X and Came home with 09' XT. I love the site. I am pumped to get on a Fuel injected Torque-monster. Wife Rides a Gladius (it's a twin) Kids ride Yamaha XT's, we are headed to FL in March, first time towing street bikes to a ride.
Guess I am a bit late to the Buell Homecoming.....
Pet peeve: My title says manufacture "Buell motorcycle company" on the 96'. it say Harley Davidson on the 09' ( I don't ride a harley do I) 8-)

Have the dealer correct the title, just to prevent issues selling it in the future. Several others have gotten HD titles.

Great Buell site. A real welcome Wagon!
Makes me "Drool for a Buell".
I'm a 50 yr old X BMW rider looking for a little Fahrvergnügen, I bought a 2007 ULY a week ago. -16F when I loaded on the trailer. A serious Nad freezer,no test ride, started and idled fine.
Any thoughts for the newbie?
Needs rear tire soon, what tour tires should I look for?
What's the most odometer miles on a ULY?
I work with electronics and would enjoy having a copy of engine mamagement software. Any ideas there?

I just bought a Buell 2000 Lightning x-1 from the original owner in TX and I'm having it shipped to AZ. I'm looking for a Buell friendly and knowledgeable HD Service Center that I can feel good about giving my business to. Any tips?

Hi everyone. I just joined the forum, so I'll introduce myself. I bought a new '09 CR last October. I've been riding for quite a while & the CR is the most fun bike I have owned (second being my old TDM 850). I have looked through some posts, looks like a lot of knowledge here. I look forward to getting more involved!

Hi all, Was lurking here reading and learning about the new 2009 1125cr I just bought and figured it was only appropriate to join and contribute if I can. Most of the questions I had I found answers to. Thanks to all!!
A little about me, the 1125cr is the first Buell I have owned, but certainly not my first motorcycle. I have been actively riding for 32 years and somewhere past a million miles. I had been considering the 1125 since they first came out, and with the closeout prices had to buy. Very bittersweet picking it up however..love the great price, really really hate why I was getting that price.
I think the cr is going to be a nice addition to my eccentric fleet and am really looking forward to riding it when the stupid roads clear here. Been a while since I have been this excited about a new motorcycle..

Hello- I'm new to Buells, and just picked up a tricked out 2000 M2. It was actively drag raced, and it's back to the street for it. According to the last owner it went 10.95, stock stroke, low compression. I'm so excited about this opportunity.

Hello

I registered with badweatherbikers a while back and did not jot down my user name or password (I messed up!). How can I get this corrected please. I tried to "re-register", but it said my email address was already registered so I couldnt.

My email address is : [redacted to thwart the spambots]

When I first registered I had a 2001 Blast, still have it, and now a new 2009 CR.

Thanks for your help
Johnny

Great to have found a site with info. from Buell owners. Just bought the 2000 Blast 6-09 with 600 miles on it, put 2,500 miles on in a few months, added Vance & Hines pipes, and am on-line currently to buy a low-profile seat, and am looking forward to riding daily this spring. I have had the bike out at least every month since the cold weather settled in. It really is fun to ride, and I'm always able to participate in a good ride with my friend's soft tail dxe. (how can he ride that thang?)... All joking aside, my bike fits like a glove and handles the way a bike should. I have a few questions about maintenance (do I really need a new Carb. to manifold coupler if no noticeable problems at this point, and how frequently should I be adjusting the clutch cable to keep it tight.
OK, I know, answers are in the forum, which I will check out.
Hope other women are on this forum too.

Rivercircle, welcome!

If you are having problems with the carb boot, you will know. It will run like crap, and depending on how bad it is may not start correctly. Mine needs replacement one of these days, it occasionally will cough on me when riding.

For the clutch cable, that is a preference kind of thing. Adjust it to however you like it and just leave it. I don't recall what the interval is off hand, but if you remember, just play with it a little every other oil change.

There are other women on here too, I can name 5 off the top of my head, one of them is a moderator too. : )

Be sure to post up in the Thumper section!

Welcome guys . . . we're glad to have you here. This is the largest gathering of Buell owners in the world and you'll find some great folks and a lot of useful information.

Don't worry about the plant closing . . .

Since I first started riding Buells . . . I've had to lament the move from the barn to Jefferson Street . . . the deal with HD in 1993 . . .the other deal with HD in 1998 and then this in October.

My bet . . based on 23 years of riding Buells . . .is that Harley-Davidson . . . who just recorded their first whopping loss in 16 years . . . likely did Erik a huge favor by allowing him out from under their control.

I see some exciting times ahead.

Again . . .welcome and we're glad you're here.

Hello, long time lurker, first time caller.
Finally got myself a STT,after 19 years of drooling.(it's a long story)I will have been riding for 30 years in May and it has taken an air-cooled, pushrod V-twin to show me how to be a better rider.

Hello all, I'm new to the board. 56 year old mechanic and live in Lansing Michigan
just bought a new red 09 1125r before they were all gone. This is my second U.S. made motorcycle. Also have a 00 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport, 04 Aprilia Tuono R Factory, 06 Ducati S2R1000. I plan on putting allot of miles on the Buell the next two years so the others won't see much road time.
Been reading the boards finding them vary useful. Thanks for being here!!

New to the site, didn't know that it existed until yesterday. Funny thing on how I found it, I had a problem with my bile and could not figure it out and was at my wits end. I haven't ridden it in about six months, wouldn't start. I have the service manual, read it throughly, just bewildered and the closest shop is a couple of hours drive from B'ham, damn. So I posted on craigslist, in the M/C forum, that I had a problem, I got a lot of information, probably 50 responces, then one got my attention. Someone living within 30 minutes of my home saw the post, had owned a couple of Buells, and said he would come and look at it, he showed up the following morning with tool bag in hand, and fixed my ailing bike, literally, within seconds! I had a fouled up neutral switch. He would not take payment for the fix but we chatted for a while and he directed me here for all things Buell. If you read this thanks Matt for your help and you pointing me in the direction of this site. By the way, my bike, '05 xb9sx, I'd add a picture of it but I just got a new comp. and have yet to get out the camera.}
