Has anyone successfully been able to lay into a SX in first gear with out having to let off the gas? or crash?

Not really... And it will probably be even more "touchy" when my pipes and programmable ecm are installed.

If you set the TC to 6 or higher at my weight, the front end stays planted.

With TC at 0, I can hover the front tire at modulating throttle levels. Fast enough to smoke all of my liter bike friends off the line, with the exception of the S1000RR, which has launch control

try an extra click of rear preload. Works wonders. At my 240lbs plus, it allows me to get hard on the gas in first through 3rd with the front just kissing the road. Tried a 44 rear and it was impossible to keep the front down 1st-3rd and on the shift to 4th at WOT it would just kiss the deck more like I was used to. I don't run any TC.

Launching= hover around between 6-7.5k rpm feed the clutch out as you roll on to WOT. It will float the front just enough to maintain directional control. Even with my weight I have shown a few stretch Busa guys my plate.

Tim, where were you for the weekend? Thought you were coming out to ECR to play?

With the IDS ECM installed, about 9500 in second gear, getting on the freeway, the front of my RX is "floating" pretty hard, as in no ground contact. No clutch action, no jerking on the handle bars...just power.
It takes all of my 260 pounds leaning forward to set the front tire down.

Not the most powerful bike I've ever owned...but one of the most fun overall.

Mike

Well, I don't know... This thing would eat the RC-51 i had for lunch, and the old ZX-11 I had for sure. The TC is set on 3 and me at 200lbs it floats the wheel while in the power band in 3rd, and first gear you might as well forget it. Of course I have a SX, so I am more up right, so maybe I should be hanging over the tank lol. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome, but man I am just sure I am going to get arrested on this thing. It's bad ass.

Just curious 1 Mike what did you have that was more powerful 185 hp stock is quite a bit of horse power, Busa? , ZX14?.

86bgn of course it would beat the RC-51, LOL
I have an 1125r my son has a RC-51 and they are both fairly close, mine dyno's at 130 RWHP his should be close as it's not stock either, so ya not much of a contest.

I would argue the 1190 is among the most powerful bikes most of us have ridden. The fact that it doesn't feel like it is a testament to how well the design is actually executed.

On the dyno it makes essentially the same as an RSV4 or new R1 and both of those bikes feel manic by comparison. They both want to spit you off if you get aggressive without all the techno nannies. The 1190 is just way easier to ride hard.

It is truly amazing how strong this twin feels compared to a in-line 4, it just seems to make power everywhere.. I think I would almost be bored riding anything else at this point.
