As noted, thinking of buying one. But I have one major question for those of you in the know.

1. Is there a computer program to owner tune, these engines/ECM's ? Not a cell phone deal, but a computer based program. Not unlike the ones for the XB's and the early 1125's.

2. Are the major problems (like the alternator..) worked out in these bikes ? I know about the rotor modification for the original engines...but...
And the clutch leaking, etc., etc.

Thanks

Mike

You are talking about a different company .... Different bike .... Different motor.

I don't know about #1, but #2 resolved before any 1190's were produced.

#1, no. You can piggyback a PC-V on it for now though.

#2, nothing major as yet for myself.

Thanks guys.
Waiting for the R1's to hit the floor.
Then decision time.

One more question...
Are those two little radiators up to the task of splitting lanes in SoCal ?
Read that..."hot" air temps. and slow (airflow) speeds.
This will be my daily driver, 85 miles a day in light in the morning, but heavy traffic in the afternoon.

After some fuel and (big) timing changes, my old CR did fine in these conditions. But seems using the PCV, there's no ignition timing controls.

I also put a manual fan switch on my CR, which I'd guess is pretty much mandatory on the new bikes...!?

Rode beside an expert racer on a race prepped RSVR4 and a Novice racer and race prepped R1 as my instructors the this weekend. Even a 240+ pound newb with a timid throttle hand had NO issues keeping up with them out of a bend and I was actually able to pull away from my camera man through coming out of most bends.

Their comments, " the bike looks super smooth on such a rough track, love how you get on the gas early, makes it tough to get a run on you for the pass."

The new R1 might be better but I doubt it will be enough for a mere mortal to make use of. lots of gadgets though. Only TWO RX's on the track yesterday... (6) R1s, 5 CBR1K, 6 Panigales, 5 S1kRRs and what must have been a million zx10's in my group. I never got passed by any of them although being newbs we are all pretty evenly matched. I hope to bump up to advanced so I can play with the guys on the RC8's. Of all of them only the BMW gives me fits from a power stand point.

the radiators have no problem keeping things cool even in stop and go traffic as the fans pull a ton of air through when needed.

I split lanes every day on my 1125r. It works perfectly.

I have an RS so a little different than the RX.
Still haven't been to DMV but have 130 miles.
Hottest day was 80 and cooler than my XB12X or 1125R.

Spitting the hot air out HAS to be a better way.

Got 100 miles on first tank of gas...

Never got passed by another literbike. Not surprising, the 1190 may be getting beat up in WSBK but it is truly a wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to the street version. What I mean to say is, the differences between the racing model and street model are minimal. In that regard, EBR's are kicking a lot of ass in other racing endeavors.
