Hey all, I've been contemplating lately about the RX. I could prolly swing picking up the 2014 here soon but I'm on the fence what 2015 will bring us. I am really waiting out for the Red/Gray color scheme.

I know from watching the Forums that the clutch action is fixed, front brake ducting issues, etc,. but I have not see any talk about what else they have done.

Has there been any other insights to what is coming out of East Troy? ABS? Better TC control layout? ~14k price as listed on some of these dealerships seems so hard to pass up. I can stomach buying the clutch fix and do it myself.

I have around ~23k mi on my CR with about ~$700 on the loan left. Kinda in a wait and see mode right now. Anyone else on the fence?

-J

2015 model is already out. One new color scheme and a reduced effort clutch AFAIK. It's hard to pass up a 2014 for $4k less.

I imagine you could buy red wheels and charcoal/silver plastics from EBR for what, $1k (?), and then you'd have your cake and be able to eat it too.

The 1190 RX is going to be available in very limited quantities for 2015. I have been told to expect the factory to only make about 30-50 for the entire year but they will most likey be the red/gray color.

Because they will be so limited I would not expect any deals on them as EBR is not giving any incentives to their dealers on the RX's for 2015. MSRP is $18,000 for the 2015 1190 RX.

Is the color and the $250 clutch upgrade worth $3,000 to you?

I see you are in Maryland so kind of far from me. I am offering 2014 1190 RX"s for $14,995 and I take care of the delivery charge which is normally $400. I am in Colorado.

So EBR dropped the MSRP of the RX to $17,995 for 2015?? The new red/grey is pretty nice so I would expect EBR sells out of 2015's before they sell out of 2014's.

I am receiving a new front wheel under warranty for my 2014 1190RX with red plastics and black wheels. I thought a red front wheel would look good on it. I asked if we could make it a red one. EBR said red wheels are not available. I guess they are only available if you buy the whole motorcycle that goes with them.

JWoody the RX and your're CR if stock are worlds apart in terms of performance and handling. Personally I go with ever option gets me going down the road first.

yes they will be dropping the MSRP on the 2015 RX to $17,995 and the SX to $15,995. But it will be a month or two before the 15 SXs are available and I would not expect to see a 15 RX until April or later.

Just a wild guess: they build a huge number of RX's to homologate them in WSBK. More than they normally would have just to market them on an annual basis. There are probably enough 14's out there at the moment and will take a while to sell. When they do, they will build 15's, and likely when the 14's and 15's are sold off, maybe 16's based on how many they really need to keep up with sales.

Curious about the SX's though.

The front brake scoop came loose and contacted the wheel. It is attached by only one screw. It can pivot downward enough to rub the front spokes. It removed the paint and some of the aluminum in a thin line. I never heard or felt it. The shape of it will not allow it to actually go into the spokes and cause a crash. EBR has since released a revised brake scoop mount that uses a bracket to add another point of connection. It should no longer be able to pivot down. There was a service bulletin released before I picked up my 1190. It called for application of loctite to the brake scoop mounting screw, and retourque. The dealer did not perform the service before giving me my 1190. Mine was one of the first ones sold. EBR and my dealer, AF1 Racing, have been really good with customer service. AF1 Racing is not the dealer I purchased from. I sent EBR pictures and detailed info, and they said they believe the wheel is still safe, but they are sending me a new one as soon as the revised scoop mount is done. The revision has hit the dealers in the last week or two.

Wow Pat that's wild because, on #105 the scoop is held with two M6 cap screws. One screws into the axle and the other is to a bracket like structure that connects the two halves. The scoop can't rotate because the it exhaust into two runners that interface in recesses in the caliper. But if the screw on that screws into the front axle came out I could certainly see how that might shift around enough to cause some damage. Give us a photo of the revised set up if when you get a chance . Please...

Tim, Unless you just bought yours, I am sure we have the same scoop set up. My statement that it rotated down probably gives an incorrect visual image. It does not take much movement to contact the wheel. It is held on by the M6 screw into the plug in the axle. There is another screw that holds the top and bottom scoop pieces together near the caliper, but that screw is not bolted to anything solid. The scoop sort of floats at the caliper. The caliper keeps it in place to a certain extent. Even after torquing and applying loctite to the screw in the axle, I can push down on the top of the scoop near the front and it will contact the wheel. It won't fall down on its own very easily. It was loose when I got it. From what others have seen, the revision is the addition of a small bracket that provides an additional mounting point to prevent rotation. The scoops don't change.

Interesting. Will everyone get a new revised scoop? I actually took my scoop off since my RX is only a street bike for me.

PMJolly I would be interested in your old front wheel if you get to keep it.

If it's a recall/warranty issue, they take the broken stuff away.
I wanted my old ULY muffler when it was swapped out due to a floppy valve but they took it.

Unless EBR policy is vastly different, I doubt that you can get free broken parts from them.
They are probably wanting to analyze the failures as they happen to improve the line.

That is the case with basically anything, motorcycle or not. Typically the only times I've ever seen the OEM not want something back is if it is worth less than the shipping cost.

Thanks for the input everyone! Just what I needed. I really don't want to get rid of the CR, but the RX has been haunting me since the AMEXPO 18 months ago.

I can live with some of these issues, minor as they may be. I just can't have two in the stable right now and so there can only be ONE.

The RX. I am going to give Battley a call here soon, stupid snow crap stuff. sigh

What were your floppy valve symptoms Nate? Did they go away with pressure on the cable? Or was it always tappy?
