As bikes are hitting the road now, one thing I've haven't seen mentioned, does the 1190RX have a built in security system like the 1125s do?

I am yet to see it mentioned anywhere, and it is not something you will typically see in a magazine review, plus since the manuals are not online yet I can't comb through and see what other unknown features it has.

I know many don't use it on the 1125, but I personally do, and while it won't stop someone from lifting it into their van it means they won't be able to hotwire it and drive it around if they did snatch it up. Plus it knocks like $10 off my insurance.

...and for you, frank, that $10 is like what...150 miles worth of fuel??

I read my manual front to back twice, and saw no mention of a security system. There is no obvious sign of a security system anywhere in the display.

If you own an RX there's good and bad news.

Good news is you have a couple things working for you.

High end bikes don't get stolen as much because their usually isn't as much demand for them or their parts

Most people don't know what the heck it is so the joy riders are a bit shy about it.

The cylinder lock and pin for the steering are HUGE compared to what comes on a standard big 4 machine so using their legs to break the steering lock is going to require some real effort.

Bad news there is no anti theft code like the 1125r, though my dealer cautioned me to be very careful about the keys because it can't be started without them, and they're expensive to replace. Haven't checked into how much, so I don't know if they have chip or not.

Well if that is true, an immobilizer built into the key like most cars these days is better than nothing. Still I liked security mode, even if I left the key in it, nobody can start the bike without my code

No chip key. I copied a key by hand with a lower profile head and bike starts just fine.
