About seven years ago, I saw a 1999 S3T advertized locally. I had never ridden one. I had grown up on Harleys, my first one was a 1947 Knucklehead. I rode it for years, sometimes as a bobber, sometimes stock configuration. It took me on trips to Maine, Cape Cod, and all over Pheonix AZ and surrounding areas. It handled the highway, dirt roads, huge potholes etc. But, it was a challenge to ride, and required a lot of body english to keep it upright when off road. I then migrated to /2 BMW bikes, a Ducati E900, and eventually later BMW bikes. But I always missed the HD sound and feel, and the torque......I missed that. But the BMW bikes made me love good road-holding, and the ability to really lean hard into the corners. But I was never a racer type of rider, so I avoided the really fast Japanese bikes.I also don't like being leaned too far forward. So the S3T seemed like it might be the right bike. I test rode it. I liked it, expcept for the super loud gutted aftermarket pipe...and the mid-range stumble. I bought it, and put the stock muffler back on it, and it then ran great. I could never find a seat that didn't hurt my butt after 75 or 100 miles. We needed a roof on the house.... so I sold the Buell and always missed it. Last week I saw one on Craigslist! I went to check it out, not really planning to buy it (So I told myself). I liked what I saw. I left a deposit, and went back the following weekend with my trailer. I have to replace the throttle body, get it registered, and find a seat builder. I am really looking forward to being back on a Buell!
