Whoa doggies.....

There use of "Anonymous" is a personal decision. Some folks here (based on a long conversation with "official sources" yesterday)have a justifiable need.

I'd encourage folks to enter into discussions based on content, not personalities or identity. I recall how well received it was, whilst during a high school debate, I opined that not only was my opponent wrong, she was ugly. Ooops.

Buell parts have (reviewing my 28 page PowerPoint presentation entitled "logical steps to releive Buell Parts Delivery Delays" and problem since 1995.

At times it has been very poor.

It is better now.

It needs much more improvement.

In 1997 a team was tasked with developing a schedule of items that Buell dealers SHOULD keep in stock. It was explained to us, under that rediculous "independent business" line that accompanies price gouging, that dealers could not be required to stock anything. I've long maintained it should be one, of a list, item required as a condition precedant to being granted a Buell franchise.

Three lists, A, B, and C, were developed. A was for dealers with greater Buell sales volume, "C" the lowest.

I have the Excel spreadsheet, but working from memory the dealer cost for purchasing every item on the "A" list was about $1,100. In my thoughts, not a Princely sum.

Buell dealers have done more to steepen the slope than Harley-Davidsons much maligned bueracracy or all the recalls in the world.

We, well wait I can only speak for myself. . . I know that I make MANY impulsive motorcycle purchases. I also have watched as a Buell owner, wandering the showroom while their bile was being serviced, purchased nearly a $K worth of Carbon Fibers TNT goodies off the wall display.

In parts, instant is good (bye-bye inventory, hello cash, hello happy customer with heightened propensity, acting as a Pavlinian entity to repeat the process, hello consumate commecial transaction...trade $$ for gratification.

In parts, quick is better than slow. Slow better darn well have a reason, say like paintd parts. But, these are the days that knowledge and info buzzes through the air at 2.4Ghz and 1.3MMph. Excuses, like Model T parts have become infinately harder to come by and ever less convincing.

Buell, I'd bet my cold cup of coffee, has a blue book containing the ENTIRE program surrounding the XB Platform and the variants it will spew. Contained therein will be marketing points, metrics for maasurements and responsibility.

Based on hard l/earned lessons, I'd bet that realibility, dealer service, customer service and parts enjoy parity with engineering excellence and innovation.

I'm betting, can;t say for sure, that Erik Buell took the events of the past couple years much harder than anyone here did. I'd bet he lost much more sleep than any of us. I know, for a fact, that, to him, this is much more than "just" business, it's PERSONAL.

I know the folks who have been testing the XB and I'm betting that they were not testing to see if it was "innovative" and I know, from working with them, that they could give a flying rat's patoot about "marketing". They wrung this bike out over and over.

You'll make your own decisions based on your world, your experiences and your perceptions fo what the essential components of quality and value are.

For me, I'm gonna weigh those same criteria and I can say, without reservation, that I am going to buy a Buell XB9R (white, please)so that my butt can continue to enjoy the evolving wonder and pleasure derived from riding the miracles that come from Erik Buell's mind.

If you, based on the above process, don't share my comfort level....I have GREAT news. The world is plum chuck full of GREAT motorcycles. Our Buell group this last week has included a GSXR-1000, an Aprilia Falco, a Triumph and a couple other assorted bikes including the consumate Virgao (ever seen a photographer who does not ride a Virago?).

Find happiness. Make your money bring you joy, I intend to. Our common glory lies in passion, not brand. Buell does it for me. In this life, regardless of how you gain that passion, I hope you are as happy with ANYTHING as I have been riding Buells.

Er...well...with the possible exception of the mudslide.

I've done nothing but give you
1. a good way to try and improve the situation.
2. an acurate explination of why some things are the way they are.
3. Not one flippin' attitude laced answer.

High Court : You're right about the use of anonymous but you're a s h i t head for owning up to knowing the Firebolt testers. I'd go as far as to say, you might even have been one of 'em. Either way, you knew of the Firebolt long before the rest of us Badwebers, and yet your loyalty appears to land with Buell rather than Badweb because you didn't let the @Bolt@ outta the bag !!

I vote Blake ban you from here forever or you fine yourself at least 10 patches. Cheap at half the price Sir Court - Firebolt stealth test pilot and Badweb traitor :)

I fully understand what he is after. Problem is that also makes it easy for my employer to identify me if he chooses to. I know that my dealer does not give a rat’s big toe about what I do on the Internet, but he might one-day if someone “persuades” him to give a rat’s big toe. Instead of poking that Bear, I’ll just allow it to keep sleeping.

Consider that if Blake were to establish such an account and he were ever asked who I was by some entity that wanted to know, he could not honestly say "I don't know". I prefer to not place him in that position.
I prefer to rely on not slapping, poking, or otherwise provoking the bear that I sleep with while helping Buellers.
As for slamming me, go ahead. I’m usually the first to know when I have my foot in my mouth. :)

I'd like to think that my post would stand apart for a couple of reasons.

1. I'll offer a possible SOLUTION to a problem, not a criticism for simply having a problem.
2. I'll not tell you what you want to hear. I'll tell you what is real. Sometimes they will match each other, sometimes they will not.
3. Almost without exception, my response will provide help that directs you THROUGH your local dealer.

Why? Well let me give you an example. (This kind of goes against what I said above)

Rocker box leaks. Say every Bueller goes out replaces his rocker box gaskets with brand X parts on his own. The warranty history goes down and the warranty/quality department thinks all is well with rocker gaskets. End of Bueller’s problem right? How does this make the situation better?

Now, instead every time a rocker box leaks all Buellers take the bike back to the dealer. Dealer fixes bike, submits claim, Buell pays dealer. Now warranty history trends upward, dealers start calling warranty / quality people asking, “what is up with rocker box gaskets?” Customers start calling customer service asking, “What is up with rocker box gaskets?” Customer service calls “the man” to ask, “What is up with rocker gaskets?” Some VP sees a spike in warranty activity on rocker box gaskets and asks “the man” “What is up with rocker box gaskets?” See the trend? People keep asking “the man” about all this rocker box activity he gets sick of hearing it. “The man” thinks to himself… Customers not happy, dealers not happy, BOSS not happy, and worst of all “The man” not happy!
“The man” plants a size 14 (yes a size 14, he is THE MAN after all) in somebody’s ass and says MAKE ME HAPPY! The guy with bootroids builds a better rocker box gasket and Buellers everywhere have a better product as a result.
Again, how is the situation improved?

Will the XB9R have rocker box gasket leaks? :( :( :(
