so gundog r those glasspacks cuz im trying to look for something that is a lil bit louder and deeper but not to loud and to deep. if there not glasspacks please let me know were i can get them from because i can get glass packs down the street from my house for like 10 or 15 bucks. so please let me know thanx much bye. also do you have any pix of them being on the bike. also are those bends made by a manderal bender or no. or are they just a regular bend from a exhuast shop?

Buellcruiser, are you retarded? This isn't an AOL chat room, take some time and make your posts legible so people don't have to re-read them 5 times to figure out what the hell you are saying. I know 6 year olds who could write a better post. Please, all I am asking for is just a little effort on your part.

Sorry, but AOL and LEET speak are a major pet peeve of mine. Save it for your instant messages.

I know you will probably tell me off too but!!!

You should have sent him a private message on exactly what he used.

I understand the frustration in trying to get what is in your mind the perfect setup but when you publically post on a BBS you are going to be open to scrutiny.

I guess the trick to the exhaust is trial and error. Try something and if it don't work then try something different.

I think the first thing you need to do is find a shop that can put a bend in a pipe to fit onto the exhaust collector. Once you have that then the sky is the limit to what you can try to fit on the end of it for a muffler.

Over in the Knowledge Vault there are pages upon pages of modifications and suggestions to everything you have experienced with your bike.

Have you downloaded the S1 manuel yet? If not take my advice and the advice of many others, download it and eat it - you will thank me in the end.

Just for experimentation purposes, go to your local breakers yard with a hacksaw & cut off various angles & bits of tube, then with the aid of U clamps you can jig something up, when you're happy with the result, mark the joints, take it all to bits, cut, trim, weld, paint. Or take it to a muffler shop & get them to do it.
Have fun.

ps. All of what Newfie said is right. No really, it's good advice well meant. You Know you can trust him he's Canadian!

The first two mufflers have mandrel bends, They were marketed under the "Bullet" brand name. If I remember I paid a little over $100 a muffler, back in 99. I enjoyed the exhaust note very much, and the neighbors never complained. I imagine the mandrel bend can be ordered online.
I had the short pipe fabricated at a local Hot-Rod exhaust shop. The owner had some extra time and agreed to give it a try. Since I didn't want to leave the bike with him, it took a couple of trial fittings to position the hangers. Total cost was under $100, uncoated. I found the short muffler sounded too much like a Sportster. Plus,it made quite a racket at 05:30 when I leave for work.
A person with welding skills should be able to put one together for little cost. Of course without a dyno, it' and miss for performance.

lol, oops. I was a little upset, I guess I missed those. I am not saying the posts have to be perfect, most of mine certainly are not, it would just be nice if they were even remotely legible.

I keep looking for the other pictures of straight pipes. I must have clicked on the wrong thread because I found people who type marginally worse than I do cussing out each other.

Back to the topic.......PAMMY.......take a pic of those bad boys on your X1 and post 'em.

If you can get the right angle on the exhaust I bet you can fit a cherry bomb and some kind of a tip that the import guy tuners are using these days.

A combination of both would probable sound pretty good.

I got an old Vance & Hines piece that they replaced due to a cracked mount. The elbow is still good and I am sure it can be welded.

I don't think it will fit yours but look for something similar over in the classifieds.

I am not sure what size the collector is on my 98 S1. If anyone knows and if it will fit Cruisers bike some post it here.
