Are you looking for the nut for the front sprocket/pulley or the nut under the primary cover for the front sprocket to the primary chain.A good dealer should have both and I know Jim's sells a nice high strength pulley/sprocket bolt. It's the same as a Sportster for petes sake!!!

One tip I can offer is to tell some places that you own a Sportster. I have been to a few places and one dealership that as soon as I say Buell they say "Don't carry parts for that" It is much easier then trying to explain to them that most parts are exactly the same. Thats odd that you couldn't get it from a dealership. I have bought really random parts, most of the time they had to order it but they could get them. Next time go in there and have them look in the computer just before they tell you "no" grab the screen and spin it around and point right at the part you want. I have had to do that a few times.

p.s...Sounds like it's time to give Dave a call

BC20 if you look in the sponsor section you will see the board sponsors. DaveS is available through Appleton HD's banner. Try clicking it.

The Jim's Catalog is available for download HERE As FMJ mentioned Jim's sells it. I am very suprised that your local dealer doesn't have one in stock. I mean I called 3 here today after reading your post and all 3 had the sprocket nut for the primary gear for a HD Sportster in stock. It's just a matter of knowing which part to ask for.

Hey!

If ya can't find the nut, wanna sell the bike?

Since it needs work, think we could work out a good price? Haven't bought a Buell in a couple weeks, starting to get the shakes!

Dude, what year and model? If it is the engine sprocket nut for an '01 M-2 cyclone, the part number is 7839. I don't have any in stock, but I checked H-Dnet and the part is available through the Franklin Distribution Center and your local dealer should be able to get it in about a week. It retails for $2.30. If that is not the correct part or year and model you have, please be more specific. I also did a dealer search, and nine dealerships in Florida have that part in stock, including Peterson's in Miami.
