Sandblast; if you do, you'll fall in love with the place. My first trip there, I stayed for two months, and traveled from Byron Bay to Cairns on a XJ900 Yamaha. My second trip (another 2 months), I traveled from Byron Bay to Launceston, Tasmania for the 8th Australian HOG Rally on a '79 Sportster. It's a magnificent place, but everybody has funny accents. |

Pilot; I was the guy who won both the longest distance traveler and hard luck awards - a case of Boag's beer. I won the hard luck award because the engine in my Sportster spit out a wrist pin keeper, and it spent the whole time I was at the rally in the Shop. I got it back with just enough time to get a Tasmanian Devil tattoo then beat it back to catch the ferry to Melbourne. Peter, my accent can't be that funny. I remember one woman who told me how much she loved it. She said she could listen to me talk all night. Unfortunately, that was all she wanted to do all night. Not that American women don't dig Australian accents. |
