Wasn't this dealership owned by the same person/company/entity that used to be a sponser on this site?

Interesting. Would think the area would support more than that.

Hope the situation gets rectified before long. Would hate to see Buell lose the momentum in that part of the country due to a lack of representation.

we used to have three buell dealers. i remember the first one to drop out was harley davidson of north texas. the biggest dealer in town. i did their air conditioning work, so i spent a lot of time around there. they had two buells that they pushed in and out every day, day after day. the paint was starting to fade. they had no parts service and no mechanic that wanted to work on them.
the problem is money. the cheapest 883 sells for about the same as a buell in this town. buells don't move that fast but 883s fly out the door. about the only thing they offer for a buell is a new seat or a factory race kit. for the harleys they have a book about 500 pages full of chrome and performance stuff that brings in thousands of dollars to the dealership. most of the dealers would rather sell a harley because they make lots more money from it in the long run. it's all about the money not the bike.

Dallas HD/Buell will not be carrying Buell any longer.

The problem is not that Buells don't sell well in Big-D, the problem is that some HD dealerships have no clue how to sell them. They have very little enthusiasm for the bikes. Without enthusiasm, you won't garner many sales.

For instance, when talking to some dealership's salesmen I often note that their highest compliment/promotion of the Buell sport bikes is to say something like "they are fun bikes." Lame.

Dave, what do you say about the bikes to a prospective customer, only that "yeah the Buells are fun bikes"? I think not. In fact I know not.

I'm thinkin a mediocre dealer bailing, so long as there are other outlets, is GOOD news -- I have a vague idea how much work goes into cleaning up the mess made by chuckleheads, and, if they are not making messes, that effort can go into building the brand, sales, and the sport

that's gotta be good news!

I do tell them they are fun bikes but I don't stop there!

Just consider this latest flurry of dealers dropping Buell as a "culling of the herd"
Some, OK most of these dealers should have never been Buell dealers in the first place, they just don't have the heart for it. They are not comfortable with actually having to WORK at something so it's easier and better for everyone that they bail out.
Most of these dealers that have bailed sucked at Buell anyway so no great loss. They will no longer riders off with poor service, poor attitudes and poor representation of the Buell brand. They will no longer give the bikes away at or below cost, thus screwing up the market for other dealers and de-valuing the resale or trade in values for the customers.
They will no longer be selling the bikes on EBay which makes them like just another commodity going to the highest bidder.(Buells are and should be much more)

I am sorry that they couldn't make it work though. We all need more good Buell dealers out there.

Ride to the edge!
Dave
